About the Troy Resilience Project.

Troy Resilience Project is a non-profit family resource center serving Pike and Bullock Counties in Alabama. We are dedicated to strengthening the resilience of children and families by using an evidence-based, skill-building approach. We believe resilience can be taught, learned, and practiced. Through trauma-informed therapeutic interventions, parent education, social-emotional learning, high-quality childcare, resource connection, and case management, we equip families with the tools they need to thrive

Position Overview

The AmeriCorps Member will support the Troy Resilience Project's staff-led efforts to increase access to essential resources for children and families throughout the community. Under the guidance, supervision, and direction of program staff, the Member will assist with community outreach, volunteer engagement, care closet support, resource organization, and community service activities that strengthen the organization's capacity to serve families. The Member will contribute to creating a welcoming environment for volunteers and families while helping expand community awareness of available resources and services.

All activities performed by the AmeriCorps Member will occur under the guidance, supervision, and direction of host site staff and within the approved AmeriCorps position description and program scope.

Key Responsibilities

The ACC Member will:

  • Support staff with maintaining and organizing the agency's Care Closet by assisting with inventory organization, stocking shelves, sorting donated items, and preparing resources for distribution to support approved service activities.
  • Assist staff with supporting volunteer opportunities by helping schedule volunteers, preparing volunteer materials, supporting volunteer orientations, and communicating volunteer needs under staff direction.
  • Support community donation drives by assisting with approved planning and logistical support activities, organizing collection efforts, and helping prepare donated items for distribution.
  • Assist with community outreach efforts by sharing information about available resources, programs, volunteer opportunities, and community events.
  • Help prepare materials, supplies, and resource packets for families participating in agency programs and community events.
  • Assist staff with organizing community events, family engagement activities, and volunteer service projects.
  • Collect and compile service-related information, such as volunteer participation, donated items received, and resources distributed, and share summaries with staff for review and approved reporting purposes.
  • Help maintain organized records related to Care Closet inventory, volunteer participation, and community donations under staff supervision and in accordance with established program procedures.
  • Welcome volunteers and community partners during service activities and assist staff in providing orientation materials and logistical support.
  • Observe community needs and share recommendations and observations with staff to support continuous improvement of services.
  • Participate in required AmeriCorps trainings, service activities, and host site meetings.
  • Contribute to additional capacity-building projects and community service activities that are consistent with the approved AmeriCorps position description, program scope, and Member responsibilities, as assigned by supervising staff and in alignment with AmeriCorps guidelines and allowable service activities.
