Role Overview
The Associate Test Manager I reports into the Test Manager and supports the planning, coordination, and execution of QA activities across assigned projects, features, platforms, or testing areas.
This role combines day-to-day team supervision, task coordination, reporting, risk identification, and people support to help deliver high-quality video game products across multiple platforms.
The Associate Test Manager I works closely with the Test Manager, Feature Leads, development teams, production, QA partners, and other stakeholders to align testing activities with project goals, development timelines, platform requirements, and department expectations.
What You’ll Do

Lead the team. Mentor Feature Leads, Senior Testers and Testers, run 1:1s, give feedback, and keep daily execution on track.

Set the standard. Take on the hardest test execution yourself: rigorous bug hunting, clean data, sharp technical writing.

Catch issues early. Join design reviews from the start and spot defects, compliance risks, and testability gaps before code is written.

Modernise QA. Kill outdated practices and bring in tool-driven solutions that make testing faster.

Own the plan. Build test plans, set priorities, track progress, and clear bottlenecks with the Test Manager.

Work across teams. Partner with dev from pre-production to post-launch, and flag risks early with a clear fix in mind.
What Will Make You a Great Fit

QA leadership. Experience in video game QA or complex software environments, including experience leading or coordinating a team on multi-platform projects (PC, console, mobile).

Deep QA know-how. Strong grasp of test planning, execution, regression, bug reporting and database management, milestone/release support, and first-party submission.

Technical toolkit. Hands-on with console DevKits/TestKits, platform debugging tools (e.g. Neighborhood, Xbox Manager), and advanced Jira (workflows, JQL, dashboards).

Clear communicator & analyst. Able to explain quality, risk, and blockers to technical and non-technical audiences, and turn defect trends into actionable recommendations.

People leader. Give clear direction, delegate effectively, hold the team accountable, and support morale, feedback, and growth.

Passionate about games. Genuinely care about quality, player experience, and continuous improvement.
Nice to Have

Experience with TestRail, Confluence, and other QA/tracking tools.

Familiarity with Agile, Scrum, or Waterfall methodologies.

Knowledge of platform-specific performance, stability, and compliance/release-readiness practices.

A Bachelor's degree or an equivalent mix of education and experience.

QA certifications such as ISTQB (Foundation or Advanced) or Certified Software Test Manager.
