Vast is looking for a Mission Integrator, reporting to the Vice President of Mission Management, to support the development of the systems that will be required for the design and build of artificial-gravity human-rated space stations.

The Mission Integrator is focused on coordination, documentation, and execution support under guidance from senior team members.

This will be a full-time, exempt position located in our Long Beach location.

Responsibilities:

Own defined mission workstreams, which are elements of a larger mission (specific customer contract, payload integration, vehicle interfaces, etc.)
Draft and manage ICDs with external customers
Maintain integrated project schedules tied to contractual milestones
Support hands-on integration activities including:
Mission planning and integrated schedule execution
Payload rack integration and ground support equipment development
Launch vehicle and transport vehicle integration coordination
Act as day to day technical interface for assigned customers
Identify and mitigate technical and programmatic risks
Support proposal writing and customer technical discussions

Minimum Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree in engineering, science, or other technical discipline
2+ years of hands-on engineering experience followed by 2-5 years of experience in systems engineering, technical project management, or customer facing program roles in aerospace

Preferred Skills & Experience:

Exposure to human spaceflight systems
Familiarity with ICD development and negotiation
Experience coordinating across multiple internal engineering disciplines

Pay Range:

Mission Integrator: $77,900 - $110,500
Mission Integrator II: $94,300 - $133,800

Vast is looking for a Senior Manager, Certification, reporting to the Vice President of Mission Management, to support the development of the systems that will be required for the design and build of artificial-gravity human-rated space stations.

This person will lead certification strategy implementation for Haven-1 and ensure the program maintains compliance with all certification requirements required for human spaceflight operations.

This will be a full-time, exempt position located in our Long Beach location.

Responsibilities:

Lead the execution of the Haven-1 certification strategy.
Manage certification engineers responsible for requirement verification and compliance tracking.
Coordinate with systems engineering to ensure certification requirements are properly allocated and verified.
Develop certification artifacts including:

Compliance matrices
Verification plans
Certification data packages

Support program milestone reviews including FRR and certification reviews.
Work with internal stakeholders across engineering, safety, mission operations, and test teams.
Work with external stakeholders including customers and space agencies
Escalate certification risks and develop resolution strategies.
Support certification strategy development for future Haven Station modules.

Minimum Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree in engineering or related field.
8+ years aerospace engineering experience.
Experience with spacecraft verification, certification, or mission assurance.

Preferred Skills & Experience:

Experience with NASA standards or commercial human spaceflight programs.
Experience supporting certification reviews and flight readiness processes.
Ability to work effectively in a team environment
Ability to make independent judgments with limited information
Communication skills for relaying data (verbally and in-writing) between other employees, vendors, and customers
Comfortable working in a high-stress environment balancing several projects at any given time, and the flexibility to adjust for abrupt changes in strategic direction.

Additional Requirements:

Ability to travel up to 20% of the time
Willingness to support critical mission milestones, including evenings/weekends

Vast is looking for a Staff Scientist, reporting to the Vice President of Mission Management, to support the development of the systems that will be required for the design and build of artificial-gravity human-rated space stations. This person will serve as a senior technical leader within the company’s science organization. This role will lead strategic science initiatives and coordinate research programs aligned with Vast’s long-term research roadmap.

This will be a full-time, exempt position located in our Long Beach location.

Responsibilities:

Support execution of the Vast science strategy and align scientific opportunities with company research roadmaps
Lead development and management of complex spaceflight research programs
Engage directly with external scientists, international partners, and payload providers to develop flight research opportunities
Collaborate with NASA programs including Biological and Physical Sciences (BPS)
Human Research Program (HRP), and Mars Campaign Office (MCO)
Translate terrestrial research concepts into viable spaceflight experiments in collaboration with payload providers and engineering teams
Maintain institutional scientific integrity including appropriate scientific review and ethics oversight for human and payload research
Represent Vast in scientific conferences, panels, and industry forums
Provide leadership and mentorship to internal science teams
Support vehicle laboratory development and research capability expansion

Minimum Qualifications:

Advanced degree (Masters or PhD) in an empiric science or professional field
Minimum 12 years experience managing scientific research programs
Extensive experience integrating science into spaceflight environments such as ISS or similar platforms
Experience leading multidisciplinary scientific teams or programs
Strong experience working with human research or life sciences ethics frameworks

Preferred Skills & Experience:

PhD strongly preferred
Experience collaborating with NASA research programs such as Biological and Physical Sciences or Human Research Program

The Senior Mission Manager is fully responsible for end-to-end mission success for highly complex, crewed missions. This role serves as the primary customer interface and internal mission lead from contract award through on-orbit execution and mission closeout.

All tasks necessary to successfully execute a mission including contract deliverables to/from customers, tracking hardware/software readiness, ground and crew operator readiness, and overall execution of Vast Flight Readiness
Pressurized payloads and cargo lifecycle

Drive risk management, issue resolution, and cross-functional execution
Lead integrated master schedule development tied to contractual milestones
Coordinate with mission operations, engineering, production, and leadership teams
Support Business Development with pre-sales engineering, customer meetings, and contract negotiations
Trusted to represent Vast to key external stakeholders and customers

Minimum Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree in engineering, science, or technical discipline
8+ years of experience in systems engineering, technical program management, or customer-facing mission execution roles

Direct experience with human spaceflight missions (ISS, free flyer, or commercial crew)
