KWES-TV Midland, the TEGNA NBC station in Midland-Odessa is looking for a highly skilled artistic Photojournalist who can create shareable and exciting content for television, social media and mobile. We want a photojournalist who can tell great stories on their own or with a team. Our ideal candidates are familiar with the latest photography, editing tools, and techniques. They create unique and exciting content on all platforms. They are proficient with live news-gathering tools and are able to participate in live performance on-air and on live streaming when necessary.
Current driver's license and ability to operate news gathering vehicle to and from various locations is required.
Responsibilities:
- Passion for capturing video & audio elements that produce compelling and engaging news, sports, features and documentary-style stories in a daily deadline environment.
- Operate an ENG truck or IP video-based live unit (TVU) when assigned.
- Be assigned to either work in a team or solo for daily news assignments.
- Attend editorial meetings, participate in discussions, and suggest story ideas.
- Use creative production techniques such as graphics and new forms of media (viewer pictures, webcam interviews, etc.) to enhance stories.
Requirements:
- BA/BS in journalism, communications or related field preferred or equivalent years of experience
- 1-3 years of experience preferred in a newsroom environment.
- Experience in photojournalism, editing, and content management systems
- Must be flexible with schedule, reliable and dependable
- Proven ability to generate creative, engaging, content-driven live shots
- Member and active participant in NPPA a plus
- Demonstrated news judgment, writing skills, photography experience, and non-linear editing skills.
- Understanding of the tenants of professional journalism
- Knowledge of EDIUS, or any Non-Linear base editing system preferred.
- Organizational skills and the ability to work under constant time pressure deadlines
- Ability to calmly handle live, breaking news situations and changing events

Responsibilities:

KWES-TV, the TEGNA-owned NBC affiliate in Midland, TX is searching for an ambitious Digital Content Producer who thrives in a fast-paced news environment and has an audience-first approach to writing, producing and distributing local news content.
Our digital producers monitor digital audience trends to identify and write engaging local news content that broadens our audience. They are responsible for curating quality content and overseeing the audience experience across all KCEN KAGS-TV website, mobile, app, streaming and social media platforms. They work as part of the larger content team to break news and tell great stories in a 24/7 news environment.
The ideal candidate is an avid news consumer and writes accurate, compelling content with a sense of urgency.
Qualified candidates should be strong writers, first, with the ability to write quickly and accurately while tracking multiple streams of information. They should also have solid news judgment and experience producing and copy-editing content for digital platforms. Experience with SEO best practices and audience listening are a big plus.
We’re also looking for someone with strong initiative and an inner drive who is ready to learn and grow.
Responsibilities:
- Write and distribute original and accurate breaking news content
- Curate and schedule news content on all station platforms, including website, mobile app, social media and streaming platforms
- Edit reporter stories for grammar, clarity, structure, AP style and optimize the content for digital
- Use creative production or story-packaging techniques, like subheads, hyperlinks, graphics and media (viewer pictures, user-generated content, etc.) to enhance digital stories

KWES-TV Midland-Odessa, the NBC TEGNA affiliate, is looking for an experienced Multi-Skilled Journalist to help maintain our tradition of superior reporting and newsgathering. We are interested in finding a journalist who can create unique, memorable and well written stories, who can share them on all platforms with a mix of outstanding photography and unforgettable editing. Current driver's license and ability to operate news gathering vehicle to and from various locations is required.
Responsibilities:
- Perform authoritative, compelling live shots in a developing story or in breaking news situations
- Develop story ideas
- Mine the community to find sources who will keep you informed about events and ideas in their areas of expertise
- Ability to identify, write and produce stories within a specific framework.
- Research for facts and credibility.
- Maintain and develop sources who will help bring our reporting to the next level.
- Shoot, write, produce and edit on air and online content within deadlines.
- Use creative production techniques such as graphics and new forms of media (viewer pictures, webcam interviews, etc.) to enhance stories.
- Use social media and digital tools to research, discover and distribute content.
- Attend editorial meetings and offer story ideas daily.
- Write in an exciting, captivating and authentic manner.
Requirements:
- 0-1 years reporting experience preferred.
- Must possess solid news judgment, display strong communication skills, creativity, and ethical decision-making skills.
- Strong writing skills, production skills and tease writing abilities.
- ENPS, EDIUS and Axis graphics experience is preferred.
- Must be organized with the ability to work under constant deadlines.
- Must be able to calmly handle live breaking news situations and changing events.
- Proven social and digital content creation ability.
- Knowledge of Midland-Odessa a plus

You’ll build & execute shows that engage, educate and inform our audiences. Responsibilities:
• Use your natural curiosity to pitch compelling stories, while leading the entire newscast process from ideation to execution.
• Craft and produce stories across platforms for diverse audiences, emphasizing quality, accuracy, and engagement.
• Build comprehensive rundowns with compelling stories, while also selecting your own production elements giving you full control of your show’s look and feel.
• Collaborate with newsroom leadership, production lead, and other producers to ensure editorial consistency and technical quality.
• Lead continuous, live coverage of breaking news and community events.
• Innovate in show design and storytelling, trying new approaches with guidance from supervisors.
• Apply data analytics to shape content and boost engagement.
• Commit to inclusive storytelling by amplifying underrepresented voices in the community.
Requirements:
• Bachelor’s degree in journalism, communications, or a related field preferred.
• 1-3 years of news content experience, ideally with experience in show production.
• Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple aspects of newscast production under tight deadlines.
• Excellent communication skills for coordinating within the newsroom and adapting plans in high-pressure, live situations.
• Ability to maintain composure and adaptability during breaking news and high-stakes events.
• Proficiency in news production tools preferred, with a willingness to learn new systems for production coding and show direction.
• Knowledge of vMix, Edius, or similar production platforms is beneficial but not required.
• A collaborative, growth-focused approach to leadership that aligns with the station’s commitment to innovation and community engagement.
