HARDWARE RELIABILITY TECHNICIAN, MICROELECTRONICS TEST (STARLINK)

As a Reliability Technician on the Starlink team, you will play a critical hands-on role in the Reliability Test Lab, executing microelectronics reliability tests and supporting failure analysis to ensure the highest quality and reliability of our silicon and packaged components.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Operate failure analysis and reliability test equipment in accordance with current SOPs and processes to support root cause investigations of microelectronics failures
• Document test results, observations, and data clearly and accurately in accordance with prescribed procedures
• Communicate and resolve test-related issues as they relate to Starlink microelectronics reliability testing, collaborating closely with engineering and specialists
• Support day-to-day operations of the reliability test lab for both in-sourced and custom Starlink microelectronics products

FAILURE ANALYSIS ENGINEER, MICROELECTRONICS (STARLINK)

As a Failure Analysis Engineer on the Starlink team, you will perform detailed root cause failure analysis on microelectronic components and packaging to support high-volume manufacturing, qualification, and field returns. You will leverage advanced laboratory tools and physics-of-failure techniques to identify failure mechanisms and drive corrective actions that improve the reliability of our satellite constellation and user terminals.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Own end-to-end root cause failure analysis investigations on microelectronics failing in manufacturing, test, and field, from initial failure characterization through final corrective action verification
• Conduct advanced electrical fault isolation and characterization using curve trace, TDR, RF characterization, Lock-in Thermography, OBIRCH, EBIRCH, EBAC, nanoprobing, and related techniques to precisely localize defects in complex devices
• Perform advanced physical failure analysis using SEM, FIB, EDS, SAM, cross-sectioning, and related techniques to identify failure mechanisms in silicon, packaging, and interconnects
• Apply physics-of-failure principles and deep knowledge of semiconductor failure modes (electromigration, thermal fatigue, delamination, EOS/ESD, solder joint fatigue, etc.) to determine root causes
• Drive corrective actions by working directly with silicon design, packaging, and manufacturing teams to implement and validate design or process changes based on FA findings

MECHANICAL ENGINEER, SOLAR CELLS (STARLINK) 

The Solar Cell team is revolutionizing power generation for space applications through advanced solar cell manufacturing. We're scaling production of high-efficiency solar cells to support sustainable energy solutions for Starlink constellations, launch vehicles, and beyond. As a Solar Cell Factory Mechanical Engineer, you will design, build, and optimize mechanical and automation systems for the production of solar cell manufacturing equipment and material movement mechanisms. This role requires a detail-oriented engineer passionate about safe electrical design, designing robust and efficient mechanical systems, and taking on total ownership of existing systems for optimization in addition to development of novel equipment, all while minimizing risks and maximizing efficiency in our cutting-edge solar cell factory.

This role requires a detail-oriented engineer passionate about safe handling of hazardous materials in a high-volume manufacturing environment, ensuring reliable control code and safe instrumentation and design of processes like vacuum deposition and etching while minimizing risks and maximizing efficiency in our cutting-edge solar cell factory.

RESPONSIBILITIES: 

• Design, implement, and maintain automation systems including PLC programming and SCADA development for gas farm operations (e.g., vaporizers, storage, and transfer systems) and wastewater treatment processes (e.g., solids separation, clarification, and chemical dosing) to ensure safe, efficient, and compliant performance

As a Reliability Specialist in Starlink, you will take ownership of line quality for state-of-the-art production processes and equipment for manufacturing our printed circuit boards (PCBs). This position is responsible for maintaining product and line quality for all manufacturing process technologies necessary for high-volume PCB production. Your work will form the backbone for millions of next-generation devices used all over the world. For homes, schools, businesses, vehicles, planes, or boats, this team plays an instrumental role in ensuring high-speed connectivity is available to all who need it.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Execute production non-conformance management processes including MRB, vendor defects, quality audits, and production containments for our insource PCB line
• Analyze production defect data and hold quality build reviews to drive root cause and corrective action
• Build relationships with cross-functional groups to identify, reduce, and ultimately eliminate impacts from production defects
• Assist production in developing process improvements and provide training to production technicians to ensure Starlink standards are being met

We are seeking a best-in-class Equipment Reliability Engineer to drive asset reliability and uptime for advanced production equipment including vacuum deposition, chemical processing, metallization, and other automation systems. This high-impact role will help shape maintenance strategies from the ground up while enabling SpaceX’s ambitious vision for AI data centers in space.  

The primary role of the Equipment Reliability Engineer is to identify and manage asset reliability risks that could adversely affect factory or business operations. • Collaborate with engineers, technicians, production teams, and leadership to maintain systems in peak operating condition and develop detailed work instructions for preventative maintenance to ensure zero unplanned interruptions
