SUPPLIER QUALITY SPECIALIST (STARLINK)

Starlink demands a new type of supply chain. We require our suppliers to provide premium quality with rapidly evolving designs at commercial scale volumes. This position supports the Supply Chain team by managing tactical supplier quality activities with operational rigor, providing high service levels to all stakeholders, and allowing Supply Chain Engineering resources to focus on high priority and proactive actions. This includes eliminating the impact of vendor caused defects to SpaceX engineering and production through rapid defect containment, resolution, and corrective/ preventive action.

Primarily, you will be uncovering non-conformances onsite and working with the Supply Chain Engineering team to improve vendor quality. You will help create a structure for executing and improving processes used to manage supplier deviation requests (SDR), material review board (MRB), supplier part containments, and supplier corrective and preventive action activities. You will drive operational excellence in supplier non-conformance management, and work to reduce future non-conformances. You will build an extensive network within design engineering, build reliability, production, and supply chain management, and a deep understanding of SpaceX systems and processes.

• Execute supply chain non-conformance management processes, including: SDR, MRB, return to vendor (RTV), and supplier corrective and preventive action (CAPA)
• Analyze supplier quality data and partner with supply chain engineers and others to drive supplier improvements
• Build relationships with cross-functional groups to identify, reduce and ultimately eliminate impacts from vendor defects
• Assist the team in developing policies, standards, processes, and documentation as necessary to ensure continued success

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:

MANAGER, STRATEGIC SOURCING ELECTRONIC (STARLINK)

As a member of the Starlink Supply Chain team, you will support an elite group of engineers to plan, source, and fulfill Harness and PCBA that are critical to the production of the Starlink satellite constellation. Our team moves quickly and you must too. SpaceX has the unique ability and desire to influence and shape suppliers to be better partners as we challenge our supply chain on cost, quality, and speed of execution.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Develop and manage supply base (domestic and international) to support all Harness and PCBA assemblies through NPI and production phases.
• Work directly with key suppliers to develop and implement sourcing and cost management strategies that support existing platforms and new product development.
• Provide guidance to internal customers on design for manufacturability and trade analysis, onboarding requirements, and quality.
• Act as the supplier interface for all RFIs, RFPs and RFQs. Partner with internal resources to drive adoption of low-cost parts and avoidance of obsolescence.
• Visit supplier facilities, and accurately assess operational capability, financial health, and capacity in order to award contracts in support of new product development and long-term production.
• Conduct comprehensive supplier analysis, including strategic direction, capacity, market and industry position, and risk assessment.
• Manage costs to ensure alignment with program budget.
• Present value propositions to SpaceX executives, including those related to contract award, cost reviews, cost reduction strategies and critical supply issues.
• Work with supply chain engineers to develop requirements for both NPI and production phases.
• Ensure partners are prepared to support all prototype builds with appropriate equipment, material to ensure a successful product development, ramping up and production.
• Negotiate long term contracts to ensure continuity of supply and protect SpaceX interests.

DATACENTER AND OPTICAL HARDWARE SOURCING MANAGER (STARLINK)

PACKAGING ENGINEER (STARLINK)

Starlink is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Packaging professional with strong project management skills. In this role, you will be responsible for working with internal and external stakeholders to deliver hardware safely and efficiently through the supply chain to support production operations. As SpaceX scales Starlink Satellite manufacturing, the Packaging Engineer will be responsible for leading the execution of packaging projects from concept through implementation. This role requires technical rigor, cross-functional leadership, and the ability to drive projects that directly impact SpaceX’s mission success.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Design, qualify, and implement product packaging solutions that optimize space efficiency, logistics costs, part protection, and efficient material flow
• Continuously evaluate new packaging materials, designs, manufacturing processes to ensure alignment with industry best practices
• Review engineering drawings and product specifications to understand physical characteristics and handling/safety requirements
• Coordinate test fit and in-line trials within the supply base and internal production lines to ensure all stakeholder requirements are met
• Develop detailed packaging specifications to ensure solutions are scalable, adopted, and cost-effective
• Lead Plan for Every Part (PFEP) initiatives supporting Starlink satellite production

• Collaborate with internal teams and external suppliers to gather requirements and design solutions for EDI integration and data exchange.

MANUFACTURING ENGINEER – SUPPLIER DEVELOPMENT, OPTICS & OPTOMECHANICAL SYSTEMS (STARLINK)

SpaceX is developing a low latency, broadband internet system to meet the needs of consumers across the globe. We are looking for talented, creative, and driven engineers to develop, drive, and maintain suppliers, from initial concept development to full scale production.

The Starlink Space Lasers team develops, produces, and deploys the most cutting-edge satellite free-space optical communication systems in the world. Laser communication is a highly valuable technology due to the high data bandwidth and high spatial efficiency, which requires engineering precise and high-performance electro-optical and optomechanical systems. This role is for a Supplier Development Engineer embedded within the Space Lasers team, supporting the internal engineering and manufacturing teams. You will be responsible for building and scaling a highly technical supply base for the free-space optical communication system design. Your direct impact and optical/mechanical expertise will help shape SpaceX’s capabilities to transmit high-rate data around the world via laser communication systems.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Improve quality, cost, delivery, and capacity metrics for mechanical hardware used in the Starlink satellite and ground station systems
• Collaborate with design, materials, and manufacturing engineers to gain an in-depth knowledge of piece part, assembly, metrology, and/or sub-system design intent
• Drive design for manufacturing feedback and best practices with peer teams for efficient and highly scalable production designs
• Support the procurement team to strategically source parts matched with supplier competencies by reviewing and assessing supplier manufacturing processes and quality systems
• Create and define supplier technical and quality requirements based on customer and program requirements and expectations for NPI and production phases
• Lead resolution of supplier quality issues through root cause analysis, while functioning as liaison between purchasing, engineering, production, and suppliers

• Implement and monitor the production part approval process (PPAP) with selected suppliers to enable rate production

OPERATIONS ENGINEER (STARLINK)

As a Quality Inspector, you will be responsible for executing a wide variety of inspections, nonconformance documentation, and resolution of Starlink products. This role will be focused on satellite, gateway, and laser products. You will work closely with Starlink design and integration engineers, quality specialists, and supply chain. • Complete surface plate work/inspection of machined aerospace and commercial parts
