What You’ll Be Launching

The Chief Information Security Officer (CISO) will lead and scale Slingshot’s cybersecurity, product security, and compliance programs across enterprise, customer-facing platforms, and operational infrastructure. This role is critical to protecting company assets, enabling government and commercial growth, ensuring trust with defense and national security customers, and embedding security as a core part of mission delivery.

Your Mission (Should you choose to accept it)

• Own and execute Slingshot’s cybersecurity strategy across enterprise, product, and operational environments.
• Lead readiness and implementation for CMMC, NIST SP 800-171, DFARS, and related government cybersecurity requirements.
• Establish and scale secure software development lifecycle (SDLC), application security, and DevSecOps practices.
• Design and oversee cloud security architecture across AWS/Azure/GovCloud environments.
• Drive audit readiness, including System Security Plans (SSPs), POA&Ms, and continuous monitoring programs.
• Partner with Product and Engineering to embed security into development without slowing delivery velocity. Build and operate security monitoring, detection, vulnerability management, and incident response capabilities.
• Lead executive-level incident response, including customer communication and regulatory reporting.
• Develop and enforce identity, access management, data protection, and logging strategies across systems.
• Oversee third-party/vendor risk management and supply chain security, including flowdown requirements.
• Partner with the Facility Security Officer (FSO) on classified programs, insider threat initiatives, and industrial security requirements.
• Ensure secure handling of CUI/FCI and readiness for customer audits and security questionnaires.
• Define and communicate cyber risk to executive leadership, board members, and customers.
• Support business development by enabling compliance required to win and execute government contracts.
• Build and scale a lean, high-performing security team aligned to company growth.

Pre-flight Checklist

• 10+ years of experience in cybersecurity, with leadership roles in CISO, Deputy CISO, or Head of Security positions.
• Experience supporting defense, aerospace, or government contracting environments.
• Strong knowledge of NIST SP 800-171, CMMC, DFARS, CUI, and FCI requirements. 
• Experience with cloud security architecture (AWS, Azure, GovCloud) and SaaS environments.
• Background in product security, including secure SDLC, application security, and threat modeling.
• Experience with compliance frameworks such as NIST SP 800-53 and FedRAMP (or FedRAMP-aligned environments).
• Demonstrated success leading audits, assessments, and compliance programs (SSPs, POA&Ms, evidence management).
• Hands-on experience with security operations, including monitoring, detection, vulnerability management, and endpoint security.
• Experience leading incident response efforts and executive-level crisis communication.
• Strong understanding of vendor risk management and supply chain security practices.
• Ability to translate technical cyber risk into business and mission impact.
• Excellent cross-functional collaboration skills across Engineering, Product, Legal, Operations, and Executive Leadership.

Bonus Cargo

• Experience leading a company through CMMC Level 2 certification.
• Experience supporting FedRAMP Moderate/High or agency ATO processes.
• Background securing mission-critical or operational technology (OT) systems, including distributed infrastructure or sensor networks.
• Familiarity with space operations, satellite systems, or ground-based mission environments.

What You’ll Be Launching 

As the Field Operations Manager, you will be a foundational team member for our space surveillance business, leading a team of telescope technicians to ensure successful installations, operations, and sustainability of electro-optical systems for the Slingshot Global Sensor Network. This role will include managing lab assembly, testing, monitoring, and troubleshooting of electro-optical equipment, as well as planning and executing on-site installations at observatory sites worldwide.  Throughout this work, you will be a safety champion for your team and actively improve upon our processes to promote the continuous maturation of our products. Your impact will span the team, the data production for our customers, and even the safety of the space environment.

Your Mission (Should you choose to accept it) 

• Lead, coach, and develop a team of field technicians responsible for building, deploying, maintaining, and troubleshooting Slingshot’s fielded sensor systems. 
• Own field operations execution for the Global Sensor Network, including lab assembly, equipment readiness, site deployments, commissioning, preventive maintenance, corrective maintenance, and field upgrades. 
• Serve as the primary operational point of contact for sensor hardware installations, fielded system readiness, and equipment sustainment. 
• Plan and coordinate domestic and international deployments, including site readiness, logistics, equipment staging, installation plans, safety planning, and post-installation handoff. 
• Establish and maintain installation procedures, maintenance work instructions, safety protocols, field checklists, and system documentation. 
• Drive operational reliability by reducing downtime, improving maintenance practices, tracking recurring issues, and coordinating corrective actions with engineering and network operations teams. 
• Build and execute preventive maintenance plans, spare parts strategies, and tooling readiness plans to reduce operational risk across the network. 
• Champion a strong safety culture by ensuring facilities, equipment, job sites, and field activities are properly prepared, maintained, and executed. 
• Supervise assembly, integration, and test activities in Slingshot facilities, ensuring consistent quality, traceability, and process adherence. 
• Partner cross-functionally with engineering, operations, procurement, facilities, program, and product stakeholders to improve system reliability, maintainability, and deployment velocity. 
• Perform other duties as assigned, not to exceed 10% of the role. 

Pre-flight Checklist 

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering, astronomy, operations, or a related technical field, or equivalent technical field operations experience. 
• 7+ years of experience supporting complex electromechanical, electro-optical, industrial, aerospace, observatory, telecom, robotics, or other fielded technical systems. 
• 3+ years of experience leading, supervising, or managing technical teams. 
• Experience managing assembly, installation, maintenance, or sustainment of complex hardware systems. 
• Demonstrated ability to troubleshoot technical systems and coordinate resolution across engineering, operations, vendors, and field teams. 
• Experience creating or maintaining SOPs, work instructions, safety procedures, maintenance plans, or installation documentation. 
• Familiarity with electrical and mechanical safety practices, including AC power systems, lockout/tagout concepts, and safe use of tools and test equipment. 
• OSHA 10 certification or ability to obtain within 90 days of hire. 
• Strong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to document technical work clearly. 
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office or equivalent productivity tools. 
• Ability to travel up to 25%, including international travel to observatory or remote technical sites. 
• Must be eligible to obtain or maintain a U.S. Government security clearance.

Slingshot’s Senior Space Surveillance Systems Technicians are technical experts responsible for the integration, deployment, maintenance, and optimization of complex space surveillance systems within the Global Sensor Network (GSN). This role includes hands-on systems work and on-site technical guidance over field installations, warehouse operations, and technician training. The Senior Technicians ensures system performance through rigorous testing, documentation, and continuous improvement efforts, while also mentoring junior team members.

Your Mission (Should you choose to accept it)   

• Execute global on-site installations of GSN systems serving as the on-site system expert for end-to-end deployment including mechanical installation, calibration, validation, and software integration of GSN systems at new locations around the world. 
• Leads warehouse activity related to equipment staging, testing, packing, and shipping to ensure readiness for installation or maintenance missions.
• Assist in guiding system training sessions for new technicians
• Deliver hands-on training programs and instructional materials to upskill new or junior team members in system operation, deployment, and diagnostics.
• Assist in guiding field testing and validation activities
• Own the execution of local and remote testing campaigns to ensure system health, performance, and mission-readiness in real-world environments.
• Performs high-level system diagnostics and performance monitoring
• Use designated reporting systems to monitor deployed system health, conduct root-cause analysis, and execute both preventative and corrective actions.
• Assists in guiding documenting and standardize procedures.
• Assists in efforts to produce detailed documentation covering integration, troubleshooting, maintenance, and site installation workflows, ensuring repeatability and scalability.
• Assist in capturing procurement and logistics requirements 
• Identify part or equipment needs and submit procurement requests with written justifications and vendor suggestions to the designated operations team contact. 
• Collaborates with Operations Management for site surveys and host engagement 
  Support logistical planning and site qualification, including physical surveys and early engagement with host organizations. 
• Assist with coordination and the on-site execution of field repairs 
• Travel to sites as needed when hardware cannot be serviced remotely. Coordinates with peers, host contacts and internal support teams for timely resolution of all system issues.
• Maintain and update inventory records ensuring accurate, timely updates of system status and equipment data in the inventory management system maintained by the operations team.
• Support the GSN on-call schedule 
• Participate in a scheduled rotation, executing monitoring and response procedures during assigned on-call periods as outlined by Sensor Systems Engineering leadership.  
• Act as the conduit between Tier one and Tier 2 troubleshooting and Triage activity.
• Perform additional duties as assigned (≤10%) 
• Carry out supporting tasks that may not fall within core functions but contribute to the success of the team or broader organization.
