• Responsible for requirement management – define, document and manage all functional & nonfunctional requirements (System , Software & Hardware) for the function in alignment with vehicle level specification and legal regulations (FMVSS , SAE, OBDII etc.) and internal standards.
• Domain/working knowledge of SW controls, EE, Electronics, and expertise in development, testing and validation methods of mechatronics systems.
• Develop component and system design, functional, EOL specifications, detailed test methods and system level DFMEA, DV, PV for complex mechatronic systems.
• Manage the technical release of the function and calibration data for production
• Be a champion of 1st principles design methodology and use extensive problem-solving methods for debugging, issue resolution.
• Lead sprint planning and daily standup meetings.
• Develop and maintain Best Practices: Design Standards, Test Procedures, Technical Specifications, etc.

The EE/SW Integration Manager at the OEM level owns system-level & sub-system-level electrical and software integration strategy, execution, and release readiness across multiple vehicle programs. The EE/SW Integration Sr. Manager is responsible for ensuring that all electrical and software systems deliver the intended vehicle-level functional performance. This role goes beyond architecture compliance and focuses on feature behavior, timing performance, system robustness, drivability impact, and cross-domain interaction quality. Scout Motors Internship Program 

We will provide aspiring professionals with a unique opportunity to gain hands-on experience with our talented, inclusive, and entrepreneurial teams. Undergraduate Interns will immerse themselves in the rugged SUVs and trucks landscape, gaining exposure to the latest trends, technologies, and market dynamics. Interns will be assigned meaningful projects aligned with Scout’s goals. These projects will challenge interns to apply their academic knowledge in real-world scenarios, fostering problem-solving skills and creativity while working under the mentorship of our leaders. 

This program is designed for current undergraduate students who live in our local market. Please note that no housing stipend is provided.  

2026 Internship Program Overview 

• Schedule: The program is anticipated to run mid-May to mid-August 2026 
• Duration: Our internship program runs approximately 12 weeks, with the official end date varying dependent upon student needs and the start of respective Fall academic calendars

About the team

The Product Cost Optimization team will be responsible for Direct Materials Cost (MEK) optimization through VA/VE activities. Further the team will be responsible for the reduction of supplier-related investments (B-Investments) and supplier ED&D Costs.

Reduction of Direct Material costs has a direct impact on the profitability of the Scout Project and is one of the top goals of the company.

Reduction in upfront investments is part of the Strategic Capital Allocation (SCA) targets which Scout Motors is required to fulfill. This is also a top goal of the company.

Daily Responsibilities of the Internship Program include

• Transforming top goals and KPIs related to product cost optimization into actionable plan.
• Facilitating internal idea generation cross-functional workshops.

• Translate program-level vehicle thermal targets into component specifications and technical requirements.
• Maintain system compatibility with vehicle-level architecture, controls, electrical interfaces, and packaging constraints.

OEM Design & Release Execution

• Create and maintain CAD models, 2D drawings, specifications, and engineering documents in the PLM system.
• Drive part number creation, BOM updates, and engineering releases through all OEM gateway milestones.
• Lead design reviews with cross-functional OEM engineering teams.

Supplier and Sourcing Interface

• Act as the primary technical lead for supplier interactions, communicating requirements and performance expectations.
• Review and approve supplier DFMEAs, DV plans, drawings, and material selections.
• Support sourcing activities with Purchasing and track tooling, PPAP, and launch readiness.

Validation & Vehicle Build Support

• Develop and execute DVP&R for thermal components.
• Support prototype, mule, VFF, and production build phases at facilities.
• Resolve issues identified during thermal testing, weather trips, and wind tunnel evaluations.

Quality, Manufacturing, & Launch Readiness

• Collaborate with Manufacturing Engineering to ensure designs meet plant requirements.
• Support PFMEA, control plan reviews, and PPAP documentation.
• Address launch issues such as leaks, NVH, restricted flow, and supplier non-conformances.

Location & Travel Expectations:

• This role will be based out of the Scout Motors location in Novi, Michigan. 
• This role requires 4-5 days per week in the office, with regular in-person meetings and events. 
• Applicants should expect that the role will require the ability to convene with Scout colleagues in person and travel to participate in events on behalf of the company from time to time.

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Automotive Engineering, or related field.
• 3 years’ experience in automotive thermal systems.
• Strong understanding of heat transfer, fluid dynamics, and thermal system behavior.
• Proficiency with OEM CAD and PLM systems.
• Ability to lead component design in a complex OEM environment.
• Minimum of High School Diploma, GED or equivalent required for all roles at Scout Motors, Inc.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with EV thermal architectures and advanced cooling systems.
• Familiarity with APQP, PPAP, DFMEA, and DVP&R.
• Knowledge of heat exchanger, pump, valve, and hose manufacturing processes.
• Strong supplier management and launch experience.

Pay Transparency

This is a full-time, exempt position eligible to receive a base salary and to participate in an annual performance bonus program. Final salary offered will be determined based on factors including but not limited to the candidate's skills and experience. The annual performance bonus program is preset and not candidate dependent.

Initial base salary range = $110,000.00 - $135,000.00
