The Role

This role reports to Dan Reed, the Partner, Capital at Praxis. As Director, Community Systems, you will lead a senior strategic role responsible for building and stewarding the systems, data infrastructure, and communications workflows that power Praxis's community at scale. This is not a traditional “operations” role — it is a community architecture role, designed for someone who understands that a healthy ecosystem requires healthy systems.

Praxis cultivates a dense, global network of founders, funders, venture builders, thinkers, and creatives. The Director, Community Systems is responsible for owning the systems and tools that underpin the community’s ability to connect and work on shared projects together, while building the workflows that allow Praxis to be effective and efficient to this end.

The role also owns Praxis’s communications infrastructure, including the systems and tools that ensure the right messages reach the core community at the right time, across relational outreach, personalized invitations, and custom digests. As an organization that is deeply engaged in building, prototyping, and integrating AI-powered solutions, this role will be a key driver of intelligent approaches across community and communications workflows.

Community Data Architecture & System

• Own and continuously evolve Praxis’s database (Airtable) as the authoritative system of record for community relationships, capturing relationship depth, engagement history, and possible contributions
• Conduct ongoing internal research to identify pain points in community workflows and build project plans for improvements
• Ensure data hygiene across tools and cross-team usability, building toward a shared organizational view of the community
• Identify and oversee technical contractors as needed for system improvements

Engagement Workflow & Community Health

• Design and operate inbound community cultivation workflows — how new members are captured and drawn into formation and activation pathways
• Build and manage engagement cadences that keep the community warm, informed, and connected between major touchpoints
• Develop community health dashboards that give leadership visibility into relationship depth, engagement levels, and ecosystem activity
• Identify and implement AI-driven automation in community workflows; train team members on AI-enabled tools (Claude, Granola, Perplexity)

Communications Systems & Infrastructure (25%)

Communications Tooling & Infrastructure

• Own and optimize the communications stack — including MixMax and email sequencing tools — enabling consistent, personalized outreach
• Build and maintain segmentation logic and contact management workflows ensuring the right messages reach the right members
• Develop and maintain templates, sequences, and cadences for recurring communications in partnership with initiative leaders
• Monitor integrations between communications tools and the CRM, ensuring outreach activity informs community intelligence

AI-Powered Communications Workflows

• Identify and implement AI-driven workflows that accelerate communications production — from drafting to personalization to segmentation
• Train team members on AI-enabled tools, reducing administrative friction across program and community teams
• Research and evaluate new communications technologies aligned with organizational budget and mission

Project Production & Outcome Facilitation (25%)

Connection & Introduction Infrastructure

• Build and operate systems that surface community needs — capital, talent, expertise, design sessions, etc.
• Develop frameworks for how Praxis facilitates high-quality, timely introductions across founders, funders, and builders
• Maintain visibility into active projects and ventures, enabling proactive rather than reactive support

Outcome Tracking & Ecosystem Reporting

• Build and maintain reporting infrastructure tracking project outcomes, ecosystem activity, and community impact
• Partner with Development Operations on the intersection of community data and fundraising intelligence
• Develop dashboards and reporting rhythms giving leadership a clear picture of ecosystem health and return on community investment
• Serve as systems partner to the Directors of Experiences and Engagement, ensuring event and program data flows into shared community systems

Critical Near Term Projects

• Immersion in our existing data structures and workflows across all tools and platforms, developing a clear and documented understanding of how information flows through the organization.
• Assess workflows to identify quick-win opportunities for efficiency gains, and translate findings into actionable solutions
• Design and implement improved workflows for how we manage, and deliver communications to our community, including clearer processes, ownership, and tooling.

Expected Competencies for the Role

• 7+ years in technology, operations, or ecosystem development, ideally in a network-centric organization where relationship capital is central to outcomes (philanthropy, venture capital, or impact-oriented ventures)
• Deep expertise designing and maintaining complex databases, including automations, interface design, and data architecture
• Demonstrated experience building communications infrastructure at scale
• Skillfully and comfortably use the Praxis set of digital tools, including Google Suite, Airtable, Slack, Asana, MixMax, Notion, and Dropbox
• Systems thinking mindset with the ability to design workflows that are elegant and resilient
• Experience with building AI-embedded tools from the ground up
• Strong written and verbal communication skills with a service orientation toward internal stakeholders
• Ability to balance multiple priorities across community, communications, and project production

Our work operates across several interconnected areas: our Accelerator programs identify and form the most exceptional redemptive entrepreneurs in the US, Africa, and Asia-Pacific through intensive cohort experiences and long-term community; our Regional Gatherings bring together the top founders, funders, builders, thinkers, and creatives in a region to awaken their redemptive imagination; and our local ecosystems work trains and develops city ecosystem leaders across 120 cities to host Praxis experiences, including a new Praxis Course, Redemptive Imagination Tables, and three-day Labs. We are deepening our investment in the cities and regions most ready to become self-sustaining centers of redemptive entrepreneurship. Underlying all of our work is a conviction that human flourishing at scale is built through dense networks of formative friendships aimed at a common vision, and that conviction animates our Global Venture Building Ecosystem (GVBE) strategy. The GVBE team is responsible for building and sustaining that worldwide network of global, regional, and local redemptive entrepreneurship ecosystems. This is the team and the strategy you would be joining.

Praxis brings together world-class founders, funders, and ecosystem builders through a growing calendar of global events, anchored by our annual large 250+ person Regional Gatherings in Singapore and Nairobi, and extending to a range of high-touch intimate smaller convenings across multiple continents. The quality of those experiences depends as much on who shows up as on what happens in the room, and getting the right people there is both an art and a science.

The Global Events and Operations Associate is the person who manages that process. Reporting to the Sr. Manager of Global Events and based at Praxis' headquarters in New York City, this role supports a team that is the connective tissue between a world-class global community and the experiences that bring them together, managing the invitation funnel, stewarding attendee data, and ensuring that every gathering runs with excellence from first outreach through to final teardown and post-event engagement. Alongside this primary work, you'll maintain the operational systems and process integrity that the broader regional events team depends on, and provide logistical support for select smaller convenings across Africa, Asia, and other regions as we grow.

This is a role that requires both precision and warmth. We need someone who can build a communications system that scales and still make every invitee feel personally seen. The Sr. Manager of Global Events will invest significantly in this person's onboarding, systems training, and ongoing development, and candidates should be excited about growing into a deep understanding of how Praxis works and what it stands for.

Key Areas of Responsibility

Invitation Communications & Attendee Management // ~45%

Our Regional Gatherings invitation process is a critical operational function at Praxis, and it anchors a broader communications function that extends across our global event calendar. Regional Gathering attendees are invited and that sourcing comes from our local city ecosystem volunteer leaders and senior Praxis staff, but the communications infrastructure that converts those recruits into registered, well-prepared attendees is owned by this role. It requires systems fluency, exceptional writing, and the kind of organizational discipline that turns a complex, high-volume process into something that feels effortless and personal to every person on the receiving end.

• Own the end-to-end invitation communications process for each Regional Gathering, from initial outreach through registration confirmation, pre-event logistics, and post-event follow-up. This includes receiving and capturing nominations from Regional Venture Partners, Ecosystem Managers, and other sourcing roles, managing proactive recruiting communications for the upcoming event, and ensuring every inbound candidate is tracked, responded to, and moved through the funnel with care.
• Manage and continually improve the invitation funnel in close coordination with the Sr. Manager of Global Events, ensuring that every stage of the process is documented, systematized, and executed consistently
• Draft all attendee-facing communications, including invitations, confirmations, logistics emails, reminders, and follow-ups, in Praxis' voice and to Praxis' standards of quality and care
• Maintain accurate, up-to-date attendee data in Airtable across all stages of the invitation funnel, including registration status, dietary and travel preferences, segmentation, and list hygiene
• Coordinate logistical communications with speakers, guests, and VIP attendees, ensuring they feel personally attended to and well-prepared ahead of each event
• Monitor invitation funnel progress against attendance targets, surfacing gaps and trends to the Sr. Manager of Global Events and helping to develop response strategies
• Build and maintain email templates, sequences, and automations in Mixmax, Zapier, Airtable, and related tools, creating efficiencies that allow the process to scale without sacrificing personalization
• Bring cultural awareness and sensitivity to all attendee-facing communications, ensuring that tone, framing, and hospitality reflect the context of each gathering's region, from Nairobi to Singapore to New York
• Serve as the connective tissue between the invitation process and on-the-ground event logistics, ensuring that what's communicated to attendees is fully reflected in the operational plan

Event Operations & Logistics // ~30%

Alongside the communications work, this role is the operational lead for our Regional Gatherings on the ground, and increasingly for the broader calendar of high-touch convenings that surrounds them. That means managing vendor relationships, production logistics, and event infrastructure across a growing range of geographies and event formats.

• Own the operational planning and on-site execution of Regional Gatherings and related convenings, serving as the primary point of accountability for all event logistics from kickoff through teardown, adapting to the scale and context of each event as the calendar grows
• Manage venue relationships, host team/volunteers, contracts, and on-site coordination, ensuring spaces are set up and staffed in alignment with program design and Praxis' hospitality standards
• Build and maintain detailed event action plans, run-of-show documents, transportation plans, and setup and teardown checklists for each gathering
• Coordinate all vendor relationships, including photographers, caterers, AV providers, transportation partners, and rental services, from contracting through on-site execution
• Own the production of hospitality touchpoints: gifts, printed materials, signage, name badges, and supplies, in partnership with design partners and vendors
• Track event budgets and expenses, managing vendor invoicing and post-event reconciliation in coordination with the Sr. Manager of Global Events
• Travel to Regional Gatherings to serve as on-site operational lead

Process Oversight & Operational Systems // ~15%

As the operational hub of the global events team, this role ensures that the processes, templates, and systems built around our Regional Gatherings are well-maintained, consistently followed, and adaptable enough to serve the broader event calendar, so that regional associates and contractors are always working from a shared, high-quality foundation.

• Own and maintain core operational playbooks, templates, and checklists that govern how Regional Gatherings are planned and executed across the team
• Serve as the internal process point of contact for regional associates and contractors, ensuring they have what they need to execute within established systems
• Monitor operational workflows across the team, including communications timelines, vendor coordination, and data management, and proactively flag where processes are creating friction
• Lead post-event operational debriefs, capturing learnings and integrating improvements into future planning cycles and documentation
• Manage and improve systems in Asana and Airtable to ensure event data, timelines, and task ownership are accurate and visible across the team
• Support the onboarding of new regional associates and contractors by orienting them to Praxis' operational standards, tools, and workflows

Regional Convening Support // ~10%

Beyond the flagship Regional Gatherings, Praxis is looking to run a range of smaller, high-touch convenings across Africa and Asia, including intimate dinners with key donors and stakeholders, Opportunity for Redemptive Imagination one-day forums, and more. This role provides operational support for select convenings where the logistics complexity or strategic importance warrants deeper involvement, and that part of the calendar is expanding.

• Provide operational planning and logistics support for smaller on-continent convenings in Africa and Asia, adapting Praxis' event standards to the scale and context of each gathering
• Coordinate with local vendors, venues, and in-country partners to ensure each convening is logistically sound and hospitable
• Develop reusable event briefs, run-of-show documents, and logistics checklists for each convening type, reducing planning time as the calendar grows
• Travel to select on-continent convenings to provide on-site support as needed

Location: New York, NY — Praxis Headquarters in Midtown Manhattan. This is an in-office role.

Travel:

Since this role is heavily dependent on our global work, you will be expected to travel for all of our events on-continent and to domestic Praxis Team events (estimated 4-6 trips per year).

Praxis has spent years building a global network of city ecosystem builders, people who carry a vision for redemptive entrepreneurship in their local context and have been trained to run Praxis experiences in their communities. That network now spans nearly 120 cities across multiple continents, and in 2026 we are moving from training ecosystem builders to actively supporting the cultivation of the ecosystems they are in, assessing where each city is, resourcing them appropriately, and broadening access to our ecosystem building suite so that more people in more cities can begin hosting Praxis experiences in their communities.

The Manager, Local Ecosystems is based at Praxis' headquarters in New York City and reports to the Senior Director of Global Venture Ecosystems. This role helps build and manage the systems, communications, community management, and program execution that support city ecosystem builders around the world, from the moment they're recruited and trained through their ongoing development as builders of local redemptive ecosystems.

This is a role that requires both operational precision and genuine warmth. The person in this seat will be a consistent point of contact for a global network of ecosystem builders. They will manage the infrastructure that serves them, write the communications that keep them connected, support the training experiences that form them, and track the data that helps Praxis understand where to invest next. They will work closely with senior team members on the project management and execution of deeper city investments, ensuring that the most strategic relationships are well-supported even when the relationship itself is held by others.

City Ecosystem Engagement & Pipeline Management // ~30%

At the heart of this role is a responsibility that is equal parts relational and operational: understanding where each builder in Praxis' network actually is, and ensuring the right support reaches the right builders at the right time. Praxis' network spans nearly 100 cities globally, and the work of developing those ecosystems requires a clear, continuously updated picture of each ecosystem's health, activity, and trajectory.

• Own and maintain the City Ecosystem Airtable, the master record of every ecosystem builder in Praxis' network, including ecosystem health assessments, ecosystem builder profiles, activity history, and product engagement
• Lead discovery outreach to Praxis's existing network of trained ecosystem builders, building templates, tracking responses, and synthesizing qualitative notes into clean, usable records for the broader team
• Track ecosystem builder progression over time, including their engagement with the Praxis product suite, surfacing patterns and trends that inform team strategy
• Track and support the development of local partnership frameworks in key regions, including assessing partner readiness, documenting partnership terms and expectations, and supporting senior team members in managing active partnership relationships.
• Support the ongoing development and refinement of city readiness criteria, including the benchmarks that determine when a city or partner is ready for deeper investment, an accelerator launch, or a change in tiering status.
• Build and maintain the Airtable infrastructure that powers the city pipeline, ensuring data is clean, consistent, and visible across the team
• Coordinate the project management of ongoing city ecosystem support, supporting senior team members with scheduling, documentation, follow-up tracking, and progress visibility across key relationships in the network
• Monitor engagement signals across the network, including event activity, comms responsiveness, and ecosystem builder outreach, and proactively flag what may need additional attention or intervention

Ecosystem Builder Training Support & Management // ~25%

Praxis' ecosystem builder training experiences are among the most formative things we offer, and the quality of those experiences depends on end-to-end operational excellence. This role owns the full lifecycle of training delivery: from recruiting the right cohort, to designing a logistically excellent experience, to following up in ways that set ecosystem builders up for success in their cities.

• Own end-to-end operational planning and execution for ecosystem builder training experiences, working closely with the global events team to ensure every logistical detail is handled with excellence
• Manage the recruiting pipeline for training cohorts, including broadening awareness of training opportunities, managing communications, tracking funnel progress, and ensuring strong participation across each cohort. This includes proactive outreach in cities and regions where Praxis currently lacks ecosystem representation, working to expand the network's geographic breadth over time.
• Support the development and iteration of training curriculum that reflects Praxis's foundational principles, including decisions around modular vs. intensive delivery formats, in coordination with senior team members.
• Track and support the development of local partnership frameworks in key regions, including assessing partner readiness, documenting partnership terms and expectations, and supporting senior team members in managing active partnership relationships.
• Draft and send all training-related communications, from initial outreach and acceptance through pre-training logistics, onboarding materials, and post-training follow-up
• Design and maintain the support infrastructure that follows training, ensuring ecosystem builders leave with what they need to activate their cities and remain connected to Praxis in the months that follow
• Develop and iterate on training playbooks, run-of-show documents, and operational checklists that allow the experience to be delivered consistently and at a growing scale
• Coordinate with the global events team on venue, logistics, and production, serving as the primary operational point of contact for training experiences within the broader events calendar

Community Management & Ongoing Leader Support // ~20%

Between training events and gatherings, this role is Praxis' consistent presence for city ecosystem builders. The health of the network depends not just on the quality of the experiences Praxis runs, but on the quality of the ongoing relationship, including the quarterly calls, the newsletters, the check-ins, and the responsive support that makes builders feel seen, equipped, and connected.

• Own the full rhythm of ongoing community engagement across the network, including quarterly check-in calls, newsletters, and other touchpoints that keep ecosystem builders informed, inspired, and connected. This includes conducting discovery conversations with Praxis's existing trained ecosystem builders to understand where they are, what they are running, and what they most need from Praxis going forward.
• Facilitate or co-facilitate quarterly calls across multiple time zones, preparing scripts, discussion guides, and follow-up materials for each session
• Write and produce the Labs newsletter and other regular communications to ecosystem builders, maintaining Praxis' voice and ensuring content is relevant, timely, and useful
• Serve as the first point of contact for ecosystem builders with operational questions, platform issues, or support needs, troubleshooting proactively and following up to ensure resolution
• Build and maintain a growing knowledge base of common questions, regional issues, and support resources that reduces friction for ecosystem builders and scales the support function over time
• Track engagement across the community, including call attendance, newsletter open rates, and ecosystem builder responsiveness, and use that data to improve the rhythm and quality of ongoing touchpoints

Platform & Product Development Support // ~15%

Praxis' ecosystem platform is the digital home for the products and experiences that city ecosystem builders run in their communities. This role owns the operational relationship with the platform, working with external development partners to ensure it continues to evolve in ways that serve ecosystem builders well, and exploring new tools and approaches that make delivery more seamless and scalable.

• Serve as the primary operational point of contact for Praxis' external platform development partners, managing the project cadence, surfacing user feedback, and ensuring development priorities stay aligned with what ecosystem builders actually need
• Gather and synthesize feedback from ecosystem builders on their platform experience, translating it into clear, actionable inputs for the development team
• Identify and evaluate AI tools and workflow improvements that could reduce friction in platform management, content delivery, and ecosystem builder support
• Maintain platform documentation and user guides, ensuring ecosystem builders can navigate the platform independently and that onboarding new users is straightforward
• Coordinate with internal stakeholders to ensure the platform reflects current program design, updated resources, and evolving ecosystem needs

Marketing & Communications // ~10%

Recruiting the right ecosystem builders requires more than outreach. It requires a compelling, well-timed communications strategy that builds awareness of the Labs program, generates interest from submissions, and converts interested ecosystem builders into trained, active members of the network. This role means that communications work end-to-end, writing copy and coordinating with Praxis' media team to bring it to life.

• Own the marketing and communications strategy for ecosystem builder recruiting each season, developing a plan that covers channels, timing, messaging, and targets
• Write all recruiting-facing copy, including emails, interest form landing pages, social content, and program descriptions, in Praxis' voice and to Praxis' standards of quality
• Coordinate with Praxis' media team to develop assets that support the recruiting strategy, including video content, testimonials, and story-driven materials that communicate the value of becoming a Praxis ecosystem builder
• Maintain and improve the interest form and application experience, ensuring the funnel from awareness to submission is clear, compelling, and well-tracked
• Track recruiting funnel performance, including awareness, interest form submissions, and conversion rates, and use that data to improve the strategy each cycle

• Strong program or project management experience, including end-to-end ownership of multi-stakeholder experiences with significant logistical complexity
• Proficiency in Airtable or similar data management tools, with strong data hygiene habits and an instinct for building clean, scalable systems
• Experience managing vendor or contractor relationships, including product or platform development partners
• Strong process documentation and systems thinking skills, with comfort building playbooks, templates, and operational infrastructure from the ground up

Additional Details

Location: New York, NY — Praxis Headquarters in Midtown Manhattan. This is an in-office role.

Travel: Since this role is heavily dependent on our global work, you will be expected to travel for all of our events on-continent as well as to domestic Praxis Team events (estimated 4-6 trips per year).

• June 16th–18th — Praxis Team Gathering, Portland, OR
• Oct 25th–30th — Africa Regional Gathering & Accelerator in Nairobi, Kenya

In addition to the events above, Praxis holds quarterly team gatherings, of which attendance is required. These are often in NYC, though periodically take place in others locations.
