As Marqeta’s Key Account Manager, you will partner with a cross-functional team and manage one of our global strategic accounts. You will bring a strong track record of growth and deep relationship-building experience to provide exceptional client service, uncover revenue-generating opportunities and workable solutions to your customers. You persistently explore and uncover the business needs of your customer to understand how our product offerings can grow their business.
PLEASE NOTE: This is a hybrid role and requires employees to be based within 35 miles of our London office. You will be expected to work on-site two days a week, on Tuesday and Thursday, with the flexibility to work remotely on the other days.

Who You Are
- 10+ years of commercial account management experience
- Strong communication skills (interpersonal, verbal, presentation, written, email) and track record of creating and executing strategic account plans
- Strong grasp of industry trends and competitive landscape
- Hands-on experience in negotiating contracts, pricing models and renewals
- Extensive knowledge in fintech, banking, payments and money movement
Key Skills And Competencies
- Proven experience growing and scaling strategic or enterprise accounts
- Proven track record of managing global customers with multi-region stakeholders
- Proven track record of cross-selling and upselling, and ability to identify new revenue streams based on customer needs

As Marqeta’s Key Account Executive based in London, you will be passionate about scaling the success of our business in Europe. This exciting role is ideal for individuals seeking to go deep in all aspects of complex business and technical engagements and will span multiple areas of development:
(1) Cultivating and managing relationships with executives seeking to innovate and disrupt B2B & consumer payments;

We're looking for a self-motivated, experienced solution seller, who is eager to further deepen their knowledge of embedded finance and possesses the business judgment and sales acumen to vet opportunities and close deals. In this role you will spend the first 3 months learning the ins and outs of Marqeta and our customers and our programme management capabilities, supporting Team Leads on strategic projects, and building a sales pipeline. Additionally, you will need to understand the process of selling a complex platform technology and be able to communicate technical and product benefits to both sophisticated and unsophisticated buyers.

The Impact You'll Have
This role is about generating and closing new opportunities while playing a key role supporting the Sales Director in setting the strategic vision for the business - here are a few key expectations:
- Closing and launching enterprise customers: Work alongside the team Director in identifying, closing and onboarding new customers. Manage the back end of the process including Salesforce rigour and reporting, financial modeling, and garnering internal approvals.
- Qualify leads and prioritize the right opportunities: Serve as the primary point of contact for prospects by identifying their needs and requirements, responding to requests for information and proposals, and vetting them against our current and future product offering.
- Run a Sales Process end to end: Manage real customer opportunities through a sales process, from initial engagement to scoping to final contract negotiations. At any given time, you will be responsible for partnering with the team to grow and renew existing accounts and working opportunities in various stages of that process in Salesforce.
- Contracting: Work with our Legal team as required to shepherd opportunities through the contracting process, including negotiation and execution.
- Know the Tech: Quickly get up to speed on Marqeta's technical and programme management capabilities, the unique features and customer benefits our platform offers and how to speak with confidence, knowledge and credibility about what we bring to our customers and prospects.
- Sell the partnership vision: Work with internal SMEs to identify and develop solutions for prospects who are trying to understand what makes Marqeta’s platform and service offering so exceptional and differentiated.
Who You Are
- 10+ years of experience in sales and/or strategic business development roles; payments, investment banking and strategic consulting backgrounds preferred but not required. Bachelor’s Degree or comparable experience required.
- Deep understanding of the payments ecosystem and card issuing is crucial, with bonus points for having worked in a regulated programme manager offering full stack solutions to customers.
- Strong familiarity and ease with the fintech ecosystem, B2B technology applications and how technology platforms serve customer businesses.
- Financial Acumen. The payments business and caliber of customer relationships necessitates complex deal structures and financial modelling. We’re looking for an individual who is comfortable and capable of evaluating and modeling customer proposals and resulting contract financial models.
- Confidence in serving as the face of Marqeta for prospective customers and partners who may comprise C-suite executives and senior leadership members.
- Ability to prioritize, manage, and deliver on multiple projects simultaneously; highly motivated and able to work against aggressive schedules.
- Exceptional problem-solving skills with the ability to work cross-functionally to deliver on the customer’s needs.
- Superior communication skills (interpersonal, verbal, email, and presentation) with the ability to successfully orchestrate the sales process by managing the time and resources of the team and specialist partners.

The Impact You’ll Have
Marqeta’s Senior Account Executive role focuses on generating and closing significant new opportunities whilst playing a strategic role in setting the vision for the business:

Who You Are
- Minimum of 10+ years of sales experience, ideally within payments, Fintech, or complex B2B technology.
- Mandatory Payments Expertise: A critical, demonstrable understanding of the payments ecosystem is essential for success in this role. We require candidates to possess deep payments and card experience, and no applicants without this background will be considered. Bonus points for comprehensive knowledge of the issuer-processing ecosystem.
- Comfort with the unknown. We’re building a world-class platform but must manage the expectations of both internal and external stakeholders. Our product roadmap is also constantly changing to reflect evolving strategy and the competing needs of our customers.
- Proven familiarity and ease with the fintech ecosystem, B2B technology applications, and how technology platforms serve customer businesses. As the Senior Director, Sales (Strategic) at Marqeta, you will be entrusted with the leading one of our key global strategic accounts. Your role will involve close collaboration with various teams within Marqeta. You will be a trusted advisor, responsible for devising strategies to achieve your quarterly targets, expanding current programs, and launching new ones, all while fostering innovation and thought leadership.
NOTE: This is a hybrid role and requires employees to be based within 35 miles of our London office. You will be expected to work on-site two days a week, on Tuesday and Thursday, with the flexibility to work remotely on the other days.

The Impact You’ll Have
- Lead a team focused on our key global strategic accounts.
- Increase revenue and gross profit by managing existing business, identifying upselling opportunities, and expanding current and new programs to additional markets.
- Develop and execute a strategic sales plan to achieve revenue targets and drive growth.
- Identify, engage, and build strong relationships with key decision-makers in enterprise organisations.
- Foster relationships with key executives at prospects and partners to establish a trusted advisor position and to establish a sustainable pipeline of opportunities and drive revenue growth.
- Facilitate cross-functional collaboration and alignment with key internal teams, including Solutions & Delivery, Product, Network, Sales Strategy and Operations, Banking Partnerships, and other key teams within our global organization to align on customer needs and ensure value creation and satisfaction.
- Deliver quarterly sales plans, OKR’s, and develop joint business plans with key prospects and partners.
- Maintain a deep understanding of Marqeta's solutions and effectively communicate value to clients.
- Provide accurate sales forecasts and pipeline management.
- Stay up to date on industry trends, competitor offerings, and customer pain points to refine sales strategies.
- Build a diverse, equitable, inclusive, and high-performing sales team by influencing the team's GTM strategy, hiring, team structure, culture, and sales processes.
- Drive cross-functional collaboration and alignment with key partner teams, including Vetting, Delivery, GNSO, Sales Strategy and Operations, Banking Partnerships and other teams in sales globally.
Who You Are
- 15+ years of Enterprise Technology experience in sales and account management within a payments organisation.
- 5+ years of experience in managing teams and a measurable track record of developing a team of high performing AEs & AMs.
- Experience selling and managing complex, multi-product technology platform solutions to Enterprise customers.
- Industry expertise in Payments, Retail, Fintech and Banking, with an ability to influence in complex situations.
- Proven experience in strategic account planning and execution for success.
- Track record of delivering YoY new bookings and successfully expanding in-year revenue.
