The Estimates Platform team owns the foundational systems that determine what Hover can scope, classify, and price for any structure. If a product needs to know what work a structure requires or what it costs, it starts here.
At its core, this is a recommendation system. You'll ingest disparate data sources (3D model outputs, product catalogs from distribution partners, pricing feeds, and customer inputs), synthesize them into a structured language the rest of Hover can consume, and serve actionable estimates to internal teams, contractors, and insurance partners.
The system is deterministic today, and the core stays that way. AI is how we accelerate the platform's expansion: ingesting new partner catalogs, classifying unfamiliar trades, and learning from every estimate that flows through. As Engineering Manager, you'll lead that evolution, extending the rules-based foundation with AI-driven capabilities that open the platform to new trades and new partners.

Hover has Hubs in San Francisco and New York City, where we expect that all employees living within a 50-mile radius of our offices will come into their local Hover office at least three times a week to build rapport and foster organic connection. At this time, Hover is not considering fully remote roles.
The US base salary range for this full-time position is $190,000 - $235,000 annually. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. The range displayed on each job posting reflects the minimum and maximum target for new hire salaries for the position across all applicable US locations. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. At Hover, we’re transforming how professionals in construction design, document, scope, and estimate properties—delivering modern tools for industries long underserved by software. We’re looking for a Senior Software Engineer who’s excited to work on real-world problems and ship software that helps thousands of pros design, scope jobs, plan projects, and deliver better outcomes for homeowners.
You’ll bring strong technical fundamentals, product thinking, and a collaborative mindset. You’ll take ownership of features from ideation to users, help shape how we build, and grow your leadership through influence—not just code. This role is ideal for someone ready to step into more responsibility, drive outcomes with cross-functional partners, and contribute to the technical roadmap of a high-impact team.
As a Senior Software Engineer on the team, you’ll work across the stack—primarily in Ruby on Rails, React, and GraphQL, with opportunities to contribute to React Native mobile applications—building robust, scalable systems that power Hover’s core product experiences.
You’ll lead scoped projects and features end-to-end, from technical discovery and design through launch and iteration. Your work will span customer-facing workflows like onboarding, interactive design tools, inspections, and transactional systems, as well as platform capabilities that ensure consistency across the product.
From building polished UIs to modeling backend systems and designing APIs, you’ll help shape how professionals interact with Hover throughout their workflow. You’ll collaborate closely with product and design partners, improve shared systems, and contribute to a healthy engineering culture through mentorship, feedback, and collaboration.
