Gelber Group is seeking a Windows Administrator to join our infrastructure team. This is an excellent opportunity for someone early in their IT career who wants hands-on experience in a fast-paced, performance-driven trading environment with strong mentorship and long-term growth potential. What you’ll do:

• Deploy, configure, and support Microsoft Windows desktops and servers

As a Technical Operations Intern, you will join a team responsible for the internal tools and systems that enable daily trading and operational workflows. Early in the internship, you’ll learn how our Ops and Trading teams use internal applications, how production support works in a trading environment, and the standards we use to keep critical tools reliable. You’ll then take ownership of a modernization project for a production web portal used daily by operations staff and traders.

This internship will begin in June 2026 and last 10 weeks. We are considering candidates that are graduating between December 2026 up until August 2027 or recent graduates. Position Overview

We are seeking highly motivated individuals to participate in a summer program in which they will plan and execute a project that modernizes a legacy internal web tool (“OpsWeb”). The project focuses on improving maintainability, usability, and reliability while partnering with daily end users to ensure changes are practical and non-disruptive.

We will teach you the context and tools you need to demonstrate your ability, and we will give you meaningful problems that require thoughtful engineering and stakeholder collaboration.

What You’ll Do

• Experience hands-on learning and gain exposure to how a proprietary trading firm operates day-to-day from a systems and tooling perspective
• Work directly with Technical Operations engineers and partner with Operations stakeholders who use these tools daily
• Take ownership of a real modernization effort on a production web portal
• Design and implement a shared templating approach across 15–20 pages to reduce HTML duplication and improve maintainability
• Improve UX and collaboration by enabling shareable, URL-driven views (GET + query params)
• Remove broken or low-value features safely, with careful change management and UAT
• Produce high-quality documentation for both developers and end users, and present results at the end of the internship

Goals

• Deliver a measurable improvement to a production internal application used daily
• Learn to refactor legacy systems without disrupting critical workflows
• Build strong habits around code quality, incremental rollout, stakeholder feedback, and documentation
• Determine if you enjoy Technical Operations / internal platform work in a high-performance trading environment

Qualifications

This project centers on developing a web-based interface that enables non-technical stakeholders to generate flexible financial statements without requiring custom engineering support. The goal is to provide a scalable, in-house reporting solution that improves usability, efficiency, and long-term maintainability.

We will provide the business context and technical guidance needed to succeed, while giving you meaningful ownership over a production-facing system used by Accounting and Settlement teams.

What You’ll Do

• Design and build a web-based UI for generating custom financial reports
• Enable users to pull from flexible data sources, including trades, positions, pricing, and fees
• Implement filtering, sorting, grouping, and transformation capabilities within reports
• Allow users to save report configurations for future use, with potential scheduling capabilities
• Partner directly with Accounting and Settlement stakeholders to gather requirements and validate outputs
• Deliver a production-ready component integrated into our Backoffice infrastructure
• Produce clear technical and user documentation and present your results at the end of the internship

As a Trade Settlement Associate focused on Futures and Equities at Gelber, you will have a real opportunity to have a long-term career in Operations at a successful trading firm. You will work side by side with not only several teams within Operations but interact with traders that trade across many different asset classes. This role is for someone who flourishes in a fast-paced environment, has a strong work ethic, clear communication, and has a strong interest in growing their career within operations and back office in capital markets. This position will report directly into the Trade Operations Manager who reports directly into the Chief Operating Officer. You will also have many opportunities to interact with different managers within settlements for additional exposure.

This position will require in person presence in our Chicago office located in River North right next to the Merchandise Mart and convenient to public transportation. This position will initially require 4-5 days per week onsite, with potential for more days remote per week in the future. (This is an early morning shift role, with standard working hours 6am to 2pm Central Time). You will be required to work some holidays, due to when the exchanges are open in other countries.

• Monitoring and overseeing trading activity in all asset classes traded looking for potential issues and following up with those traders at Gelber
• Working with third parties such as Brokers or Clearing Firms

As an Experienced Equity Discretionary Trader on one of our largest desks, you will have a real opportunity to have a huge impact on the firm. You will work side by side with other successful and talented individuals to capitalize on market opportunities. This position will require a strong emphasis on in-person presence in our Chicago office, located in River North right next to the Merchandise Mart and convenient to public transportation.  

What you’ll do:

• Manage your own trading book with a focus on the US and Global Equities market
• Manage your own risk of a portfolio of active strategies and drive trading decisions
• Collaborate across your trading desk to execute teams’ goals while ensuring core risk standards are met
• Analyze market trends, order flow, and technical patterns to identify trading opportunities
• Develop, test, and refine your trading strategies using historical data and real-time market conditions
• Continuously monitor market conditions, news, and macroeconomic events impacting equities
• Conduct research to develop new strategies and improve the performance of your existing strategies
• Monitor material changes in levels of risk and variance in PnL, especially focused around deviation from your plans, and proactively communicate those changes to leadership

The approximate annual base compensation range for this position in Chicago, IL is $72,000 to $120,000. The actual offer, reflecting the total compensation package plus benefits, will be determined by a number of factors which include but are not limited to the applicant’s experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities; geographic location; and internal equity. As a Brazilian Rates Trading Desk Manager, you will have a real opportunity to impact the firm. In a new market for Gelber, you will have the ability to build out a new strategy for the firm and grow your own desk over time. You may closely collaborate with our US Fixed Income Desk as well.
