We are currently seeking a FPGA Engineer to join one of our trading teams. While DRW has been leveraging FPGA technology for a number of years, you will have the opportunity to build an FPGA application from scratch for an existing team. We’re seeking a candidate that has a strong understanding of software and hardware interaction. This person will participate in the full development lifecycle, including system and block level testing, of low latency high throughput FPGA design.

This role is for the Chicago office only.

Responsibilities: 

• Architect and implement new FPGA applications (synthesis, place & route, static timing analysis, documentation) from the ground up
• Research and evaluate a variety of cutting-edge FPGA hardware and technologies
• Propose creative solutions to overcome FPGA/hardware limitations
• Liaise directly with software and other design teams
• Conduct lab debugging and characterization of new hardware

Candidate Requirements: 

• Bachelor’s degree or higher, Computer/Electrical Engineering with 3+ years of experience within the field; (Master’s degree or higher also counts for experience)
• Solid Hardware Engineering experience, especially with FPGA
• Highly autonomous with a can-do attitude able to lead an FPGA based project from system requirements to production
• Strong capacity to quickly evaluate FPGA based project feasibility based on hardware limitation
• Strong skills in RTL logic design (Verilog) and verification; 2+ years of experience writing Verilog
• Experience in FPGA design flow including synthesis, place & route , static timing analysis is required
• Experience with the design of system-on-chip (SOC) architectures, memory & processor subsystems, networking, and peripheral interconnect is required
• Knowledge of the TCP/IP stack
• Strong working knowledge of either XILINX or ALTERA FPGA design flow
• Experience with functional verification utilizing high-level methodologies (e.g. System Verilog) is a plus.
• Excellent research and data gathering skills

The annual base salary range for this position is $150,000 to $250,000 depending on the candidate’s experience, qualifications, and relevant skill set. The position is also eligible for an annual discretionary bonus. We are seeking a Senior UX Designer to join our algorithmic trading team and lead the creation of our next generation of user interfaces.   

This role is for our Chicago office only. 5 days a week in office, with flexibility when needed.

Responsibilities: 

• Lead the design of the next evolution of our automated trading platform. Design UI architectures that clearly surface critical real-time information across markets and trading applications, intuitively alert traders to what matters most, enable rapid assessments of the state of our automated trading systems, and support precise, error-resistant control of applications.
• Work side by side with traders and developers to deliver a cohesive user experience across our trading applications, and ensure that our UIs are consistent, efficient, and prevent user errors. You will work directly with traders to understand workflows, mental models, constraints, and edge cases, translating those insights into effective interface designs.
• Own the full design process from discovery through production, including requirements gathering, user research, wireframes, high-fidelity UI designs, interactive prototypes, and ensuring accurate implementation.
• Collaborate closely with software engineers to ensure proposed designs  are technically feasible, performant, and accurately implemented to solve user problems. Review implemented interfaces to ensure usability, interaction details, and design intent are executed correctly.
• Establish and evolve a coherent design language across trading applications, including shared patterns, components, and interaction standards.
• Independently manage priorities and proactively identify UX opportunities in a high-ownership environment. 

Some of the key skills are: 

• 8+ years of experience in UX design.
• Proficiency with Figma or other similar industry standard design tools.
• Experience conducting user research, usability testing and incorporating user feedback into design iterations.
• Proven ability to work independently and drive complex, ambiguous projects to completion with minimal oversight.
• Strong problem-solving skills and a pragmatic, results-focused approach.
• Strong communication skills, with the ability to clearly articulate design decisions and trade-offs, balancing user desirability, technical feasibility, and business impact.
• Experience with UX design for trading systems is strongly preferred but not required.
• Experience designing complex, data-dense, or real-time systems is highly valued and preferred.
• Proficiency in AI-assisted design workflows, such as Figma Make or equivalent, MCP-based tooling or integrations, and other AI-enabled systems to accelerate ideation, prototyping, and production-quality UX/UI design.

About the Role:

DRW is seeking a Head of Engineering for the Algorithmic Trading Group to lead the software and hardware engineering effort. The position oversees a collaborative technical team of approximately 30 experienced software and hardware engineers with an average tenure of 10+ years.

Key Responsibilities:

• Set the technical direction across the full stack, spanning low-latency trading systems, custom hardware, risk management infrastructure, networking, and UX - driving top performance and scalability 
• Partner with trading and research teams to balance short-term revenue opportunities against long-term investments in engineering infrastructure
• Own production reliability by setting the standards for code quality, testing rigor, and release discipline, with a zero-tolerance approach to production outages
• Define the group's strategy for AI adoption, establishing best practices for efficient and safe use

Qualifications:
