About the team:

You'll be part of the Growth engineering team, working alongside other engineers focused on acquisition, activation, and monetization. You'll own the marketing website — the front door to Descript that drives self-serve signups, and enables the enterprise sales motion. Finance at Descript isn’t a back office function. It’s a strategic partner in shaping where and how we grow. The Role

We're hiring our first in-house attorney — and with that comes a rare opportunity to build Descript's legal function from the ground up. As Senior Counsel, you'll own most of Descript's day-to-day legal operations, with outside counsel supporting complex matters. This is a high-autonomy role.

You'll be the go-to legal advisor across the company, partnering with sales, product, finance, and engineering teams on everything from commercial deals to AI product counsel to employment matters. You will be a hands-on accounting leader reporting to the VP of Finance, owning the month-end close, financial reporting, and core accounting operations. You'll manage our Senior Accountant and operate across the full accounting stack — from journal entries and reconciliations to revenue recognition and systems improvements.
