📣 The exciting stuff
Supporting the manufacturing & fulfillment facility here at Rudie’s Kitchen in order to ensure that stock movements around the whole site run smoothly, and working with some of the best people in the area, this is a great time to join Butternut Box. In return for your tail-wagging dedication, we offer a competitive wage of £16.02 per hour (salary £34,268)
👋 A bit about the role
We are looking for a versatile and safety-conscious Shunter Driver to join our team. This is a unique "hybrid" role that requires a professional driver who is equally comfortable behind the wheel of a Class 1 vehicle and operating MHE within a fast-paced warehouse environment.
While your primary focus will be supporting our warehouse operations, your expertise as a Class 1 driver is essential for our shunting requirements.
Shunting Operations: Responsible for the safe and efficient movement of LGVs and trailer units across our sites (Rudie’s Kitchen and Ace’s Pantry) and on the adjoining public road. You will manoeuvre units into storage or loading bays with precision.
Warehouse Operations: Operating a variety of Mechanical Handling Equipment (MHE). While we primarily utilise Reach Trucks within our 10m fully racked chillers and freezers, you will also operate counterbalance and ride-on forklift trucks.
Inventory & Systems: Perform accurate stock counts and system transactions to maintain inventory integrity.
Quality & Safety: Conduct rigorous quality checks to ensure product specifications are met. You will work in a manner that prioritises safety, correctly wearing PPE and following all site procedures.
Facility Standards: Maintain a ‘clean as you go’ approach, contributing to the hygiene of floors, walls, and conveyors, as well as assisting with waste processing and order packing.
Performance: Work towards defined KPIs and participate in daily review meetings to help drive warehouse performance.
📣 A bit about us
At Butternut, our mission is to deliver health and happiness to dogs and their humans all over the world. In order to do just that, we need a hard-working team. And we need quite a big kitchen too. Which is precisely why we have built one.
Located in Doncaster, Rudie's Kitchen is where our Butternut meals (we currently have 12 recipes) will be gently cooked, using human-quality ingredients. Rudie's is also where we will be packaging our meals and boxing them for our customers all over the UK. We are a close nit team, with a that family feel, looking to welcome more like minded people to our lovely team and keep work life fun and enjoyable.
We are pleased to say, this is a full-time permanent contract, you will be working a rolling average of 41 hours per week working on a shift rotation with a mixture of days / nights and some weekend working. The working shifts days consisting of 7am to 7pm and nights consisting of 7pm-7am.

Leader & Coach: Whether working with your team, or with others, you are a coach first, aiming to help others succeed.
🐶 A bit about Butternut
At Butternut, the mission is to deliver health and happiness to dogs and their humans all over the world. In order to do just that, we need a team of forward-thinking, driven people who love dogs as much as we do. And we need some pretty impressive kitchens to make it happen.
While Rudie's Kitchen and Ace's Pantry in Doncaster remain the heart of our UK operations, we’ve recently taken a massive leap forward with Sam’s Kitchen in Poland, going live in January this year. This expansion is a huge part of our story, allowing us to bring our gently cooked, human-quality meals to even more four-legged friends across Europe.
We believe dogs deserve better, and we wouldn't serve food to them that we wouldn't be happy to eat ourselves. Butternut has come a long way since Kev & Dave (our co-founders) hand-delivered the first Butternut Box, and with our new international footprint, we are looking for brilliant people to join us for this next chapter.
Are you up for the challenge?

🐶 A bit about Butternut
Delivering on our promise of "Fresh food, Happy dogs" requires operational excellence at every step. Our Doncaster site, made up of Rudie’s Kitchen (manufacturing) and Ace’s Pantry (Order Fulfilment and Warehouse) are where our meals are gently cooked, and then packed with care for our customers, through the people who manage our flow, quality, and distribution.
We are moving beyond the scale-up phase of the operation to a place where excellence happens every day. To do this, we need forward-thinking individuals who see the big picture and want to play a hands-on role in a complex, fast-moving operation. If you believe dogs deserve better and you have the drive to help us deliver it, we want to hear from you.
