We are seeking a seasoned AI Automation Manager to spearhead our initiatives within a rapidly growing Fintech company. In this pivotal role, you will lead our transition from traditional RPA to a comprehensive AI-driven automation ecosystem, overseeing the end-to-end development of both RPA solutions and AI agents designed to automate complex manual processes.
As a dynamic engineering leader within our Business Technology team, you will report to the Head of Business Technology Engineering and collaborate with leadership to elevate our existing practices. Your mission is to establish a framework that democratizes automation and AI across all business functions, driving significant ROI and operational efficiency.
Key Responsibilities:
- Team Leadership: Manage a team of engineers and analysts to implement automation and AI projects, ensuring every initiative delivers measurable business value.
- AI Agent Development: Lead the design, development, and deployment of AI agents and RPA solutions that align with organizational goals.
- Process Optimization: Conduct end-to-end process reviews to identify pain points and opportunities for simplification, standardization, and AI-driven innovation.
- Strategic Collaboration: Partner with business units to identify automation opportunities, prioritizing projects based on ROI and their potential to integrate with existing systems like Salesforce and NetSuite.
- Governance & Testing: Establish a comprehensive testing framework and ensure all deliverables align with governance, change management, and industry best practices.
- Solution Design: Recommend improvements including business process changes, system configurations, and the deployment of autonomous agents to address upstream and downstream impacts.

- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or related field
- 8+ years of progressive experience in automation delivery, with 2+ years specifically in Automation Anywhere RPA platform
- AI Expertise: Proven experience building and deploying AI agents to automate manual processes, complemented by a working knowledge of Generative AI and prompt engineering.
- Operational Rigor: Demonstrated ability to maintain strong operational rigor in a fast-paced environment, including managing production support, monitoring bot/agent performance, and maintaining strict adherence to SDLC and security standards.
- Technical Stack: Strong understanding of technology stacks including Salesforce, NetSuite, and related business applications.
- Project Management: Demonstrated experience using Agile frameworks and change management to drive complex projects to completion.
- Analytical Depth: Strong business and process analysis skills with an analytical mindset capable of solving complex problems through innovative optimizations.
- Communication: Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to articulate and quantify the business value of AI and automation to stakeholders at all levels.

As a Senior Software Engineer, you’ll architect and scale innovative back-office solutions, managing enterprise-level data volumes and complex workflows that empower Lower Mid-Market Customers and Accountants to streamline operations through our flagship Multi-Entity (ME) offering.

The Core Infrastructure Team is responsible for managing all of the infrastructure and databases at BILL. We utilize Foglight, DataDog (for Logging, Metrics, and APM), Splunk, and CloudWatch for real-time alerts. We are strong advocates of Infrastructure as Code, and to achieve this, we utilize Terraform and AWS ECS.
We are looking for a Senior Database Reliability Engineer with deep expertise in Oracle on AWS to join us in supporting and enhancing our mission-critical database systems. As a member of the team, you will collaborate closely with our Systems Engineers and Architects to design, implement, and scale the database engines that power the BILL suite of applications.
This role is not for a traditional "Click-Ops" DBA. We are seeking an automation-first engineer. If you thrive on modernizing enterprise database stacks, writing code to eliminate manual toil, and tackling complex challenges involving large datasets to drive business results, this is the ideal job for you.
Your Role: As a Staff Database Reliability Engineer, you will serve as the Subject Matter Expert responsible for managing, optimizing, and ensuring the stability of our Oracle and cloud-native ecosystems. You will pivot our stack toward full automation, ensuring high availability, disaster recovery, and seamless scaling.

- Deep Oracle Expertise: 6+ years of experience in database engineering with a primary focus on Oracle (19c or later), including strong skills in performance tuning (AWR, ASH, execution plans), security, and access control.
- AWS Experience: 3+ years managing mission-critical Oracle databases on AWS (RDS Custom or EC2).
- Mandatory Automation Skills: Proven proficiency in EITHER Infrastructure as Code using Terraform (writing custom modules, state management) OR advanced scripting/development using Python (boto3, automation frameworks). Candidates must be able to demonstrate code samples.
- Replication Mastery: Advanced experience with Oracle GoldenGate for real-time data integration and migration.
- GitOps Mindset: Experience applying an SDLC approach to infrastructure changes (CI/CD pipelines, GitLab/GitHub).
- Observability: Experience with monitoring and alerting tools like Foglight, DataDog, Splunk, and CloudWatch for real-time performance monitoring and issue resolution.

This role is for a hands-on technical leader with deep expertise in AWS networking and infrastructure as code who will set standards, influence architecture, and drive scalable, secure networking solutions across the BILL application ecosystem. You will act as the go to expert for cloud networking, partnering closely with infrastructure, security, and product engineering teams to ensure our network enables performance, reliability, and growth.

Minimum of 7 years of relevant experience in network engineering, with a significant portion of that experience specifically focused on designing, implementing, and managing network infrastructure in AWS or similar cloud environments.

- Hands-on experience designing inter-VPC and inter-account connectivity patterns (e.g., VPC peering, Transit Gateway attachments, Cloud WAN core networks, and routing domains), including segmentation strategies for production, staging, and non-production workloads.
- Proficiency in Terraform or similar Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools for automating network configuration, including reusable modules for VPCs, Transit Gateways, Cloud WAN segments, route tables, and security policies.
- In-depth knowledge of networking protocols, including TCP/IP, BGP, OSPF, VLANs, VPNs, and DNS, with specialized experience managing Amazon Route 53 hosted zones and Cloudflare DNS/CDN configurations, and the ability to apply these in cloud-based architectures (e.g., dynamic routing over Direct Connect or site-to-site VPN integrated with Transit Gateway / Cloud WAN).
- Strong understanding of network security principles and best practices, including firewalls, IDS/IPS, encryption, access control, and the application of these controls at the VPC, Transit Gateway, and Cloud WAN layers to enforce least-privilege and zero-trust patterns.
- Experience with network monitoring and performance optimization tools such as CloudWatch, VPC Flow Logs, and AWS Direct Connect, including baselining, capacity planning, and proactive detection of routing and latency issues in large-scale topologies.
- Ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams, including Systems Engineers, Developers, Security, and Architects, to translate application and business requirements into resilient AWS network architectures.
- Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving skills, with a focus on identifying and resolving complex network issues across on-premises, Direct Connect, VPN, Transit Gateway, Cloud WAN, and VPC boundaries.

We’d love to chat if you have:
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
- At least 5 years of experience in software engineering.
- Experience leveraging Gen AI technologies to accelerate software engineering by designing prompts, rigorously evaluating outputs, and integrating LLMs
- Proven experience in leading the design and implementation of new platform services.
- Expertise in building and maintaining large-scale, high-volume, high-availability, low-latency systems.
- Strong understanding of security, compliance, and regulatory requirements.
- Demonstrated experience in the payment industry or supporting platform development.
- Proficiency in version control, code reviews, testing, and deployment automation.
- Ability to mentor and guide other engineers in best practices and advanced technical concepts.
- Experience with machine learning model integration and data pipeline design.

The estimated salary range for this role is noted below for our San Jose based role. Our ranges for each role and job level are based on a variety of factors including candidate experience, expertise, and geographic location and may vary from the amounts listed above. The role is also eligible for a competitive benefits package that includes: medical, dental, vision, life and disability insurance, 401(k) retirement plan, flexible spending & health savings account, paid holidays, paid time off, and other company benefits.
