• Lead efforts in high-speed signal integrity (SI) and power integrity (PI) analysis, modeling, and validation.
• Knowledge of compute and processor power requirements, power trees, PMICs, and power sequencing.
• Drive the selection and qualification of critical components, including SoMs, memory, storage (NVMe/eMMC), high-speed interconnects, and peripheral interfaces.
• Develop comprehensive validation and test plans (DVT/PVT), design necessary test fixtures, and execute rigorous testing to confirm compliance with performance specifications and regulatory standards (e.g., FCC, CE).
• Stay abreast of the latest advancements in embedded systems, real-time operating systems (RTOS), and robotics compute hardware to inform future design decisions.
• Own the entire lifecycle of complex compute hardware systems, from initial concept and architecture definition through design, prototyping, validation, production release, and ongoing support.
• Act as a technical leader and mentor within the electrical engineering team, guiding junior and senior engineers on best practices for complex hardware design and troubleshooting.

SKILLS AND REQUIREMENTS

• Proven experience in architecting and shipping complex, high-performance compute solutions for robotics, autonomous systems, or similar applications.
• Deep understanding of functional safety principles and standards (e.g. IEC 61508) and experience with safety-critical design.

The Role

As a Staff Wire Harness Engineer, you are the principal technical authority for the "nervous system" of our humanoid platform. You don't just design harnesses; you define the interconnect architecture that enables Apollo to move, sense, and think. This role requires a rare blend of deep electrical knowledge , mechanical integration, and strategic leadership. You will own the technical roadmap for power and data distribution, ensuring our systems are not only robust but also optimized for mass production and field serviceability.

Responsibilities

• Interconnect Architecture: Define the top-level electrical distribution strategy for the entire robot, including grounding schemes, shielding architecture, and power/data separation protocols.
• Joint-Crossing Lifecycle Leadership: Own the technical strategy for harness routing across high-DOF joints. Develop and validate mathematical models for cable life expectancy (millions of cycles) and select materials that survive extreme dynamic environments.
• Standardization & Tooling: Establish company-wide standards for E-CAD workflows, library management, and drawing requirements. Lead the selection and implementation of enterprise-level harness design software (e.g., Zuken E3, Capital).

We are seeking a Staff Test Engineer – Actuation to own the design validation and NPI test process for Apptronik's custom actuator systems. This is a hands-on, multi-disciplinary role spanning mechanical, electrical, firmware, and software testing — requiring someone who can independently drive actuator characterization and validation from initial bringup through design verification, and build the test methods and automation that transfer to test ops as programs move into production.

You will design and execute actuator test campaigns, develop robust bringup and calibration workflows, diagnose hardware issues across the full electromechanical stack, and deliver validated, well-documented test processes that are ready for handoff. You will work closely with mechanical, electrical, firmware, and controls engineers — connecting test data to root-cause analysis and hardware design improvements.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

• Actuator Bringup & Calibration: Lead the bringup process for new actuator hardware — including firmware deployment, motor and encoder calibration, and functional verification. Develop documented, repeatable procedures that can be transferred to test ops for production use.
• Design Validation Testing: Plan and execute design validation campaigns to characterize actuator performance across the operating envelope. Tests span mechanical (e.g., efficiency, stiffness, backlash, life), electrical (e.g., peak current, thermal limits, drive performance), and system-level (e.g., positional accuracy, off-axis loading, effort production) domains.

• Test Automation & Data Infrastructure: Build Python-based test automation, data pipelines, and analysis tools that enable repeatable, scalable validation across multiple actuator types and hardware revisions.
• Test Equipment Operation: Operate and configure dynamometer, benchtop, and custom test setups. Manage fixture configurations and load motor modes across different actuator and gearbox variants.
• Cross-Stack Root-Cause Analysis: Diagnose actuator performance issues spanning firmware, electrical, and mechanical domains using structured, data-driven reasoning. Provide clear, actionable feedback to design teams.
