ABOUT THE JOB

As a Senior Software Engineer, DevOps on the Maritime Digital Shipbuilding team, you will build and operate the infrastructure that keeps our digital production systems running at full speed. You’ll develop and manage CI/CD pipelines, automate infrastructure with code, and deploy applications and machine learning models across cloud and edge environments with security, traceability, and reliability in mind.

You’ll work closely with software, data, and operations engineers to turn designs into working systems—streamlining development, improving performance, and keeping production stable as we scale. You’ll also collaborate with digital, manufacturing, and corporate technology teams across Anduril in a high-tech, fast-paced culture of innovation focused on solving real problems and delivering results.

WHAT YOU'LL DO

• Build and Manage CI/CD Pipelines: Develop and maintain CI/CD pipelines using tools like GitHub Actions and Jfrog Artifactory to ensure seamless integration and deployment of machine learning models and applications.
• Infrastructure as Code (IaC): Utilize Terraform and Ansible to automate infrastructure provisioning and management on cloud platforms such as Azure, AWS, or Google Cloud Platform (GCP).
• Containerization and Orchestration: Implement containerization solutions with Docker and manage container orchestration using Kubernetes to ensure reliable deployment and scaling of applications.
• Model Management and Deployment: Set up and maintain model registries and feature stores (e.g., MLflow, Kubeflow), and manage deployment pipelines for both batch and real-time inference.
• Monitoring and Logging: Establish comprehensive monitoring and logging solutions using tools like ELK Stack (Elasticsearch, Logstash, Kibana), Prometheus, and Grafana to ensure the smooth operation of deployment environments.
• Collaborate with Cross-Functional Teams: Work closely with development, data science, and operations teams to foster collaboration and ensure the efficient and effective deployment of machine learning models.
• Optimize Performance: Utilize parallel computing frameworks such as CUDA and OpenCL to accelerate high-performance computing tasks, ensuring timely processing of large datasets and complex simulations.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

• Advanced proficiency in programming languages (Python for scripting and integration).
• Experience with CI/CD tools like GitHub Actions, Jfrog Artifactory, and Git.
• Proficiency with IaC tools (Terraform, Ansible).
• Experience with cloud platforms (Azure, AWS, GCP).
• Proficiency in containerization (Docker) and container orchestration (Kubernetes).

As a leader in the Maritime Division, you must be a technical leader with the expertise to evaluate, qualify, manage, and advocate for an increasing number of sophisticated parallel pursuits. WHAT YOU'LL DO

• Own customer success through the design and delivery of a fully operational mission system for a new maritime platform.
• Partner with the Vehicle Software team that is responsible for core sensor, actuator, and vehicle system functionality. Collaborate on interfacing requirements between Vehicle Management System and Mission System stacks .
• Drive architecture selection and design for robotic mission systems, including hardware selection, compute, storage and network architecture. Service orchestration and other software platform concerns that balance constraints, restrictions and requirements in a multi-stakeholder environment.
• Contribute to the design and development of a company-wide roadmap for mission system integration into maritime platforms, including necessary software inputs.
• Lead teams that develop software that runs on- and off- platform, using a variety of technologies.
• Drive the design and implementation of development processes for the initial delivery and subsequent iteration of mission software, including full lifecycle testing.
• Drive the creation of test and simulation fixtures that operate with both software- and hardware-in-the-loop
• Support vehicle manufacturing and deployment.
• Lead teams of multi-disciplinary engineers, including as a mentor for Senior Software Engineers from differing backgrounds.
• Leverage internal product and program-specific engineering teams to rapidly deliver capability beyond the scope of current platforms, with a clear path for both architecture and capability evolution over time.
• Travel to co-locate with end-users and/or other teams up to 25% of the time.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS 

• Experience in a senior role for the delivery of a military mission system
• Experience with the development and sustainment of distributed software platform and application architectures, running under dynamic network topologies
• Experience with modeling and simulation
• Experience with development of high assurance safety critical software
• Experience with development of comprehensive unit test and regression
• Deep understanding of autonomous weapons systems, inclusive of payload capabilities and both commercial and military mission sets
• Experience within the product delivery lifecycle including manufacturing, system acceptance, deployment, and sustainment
• Familiarity with vehicle management systems
• Familiarity with System Engineering concepts
• Eligible to obtain and maintain an active U.S. Secret security clearance

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

• Bachelor’s degree in Robotics, Mechatronics, Computer Science, Engineering, a relevant field, or equivalent experience
• Experience in a leadership position within a high performing technology organization
• Systems and/or application programming skills including algorithms, data structures, concurrency and optimization
• Experience troubleshooting and analyzing remotely deployed software systems
• Capacity to work holistically on software enabled capabilities up and down the software stack and through lifecycle through design, implementation, operation and sustainment
• Capacity to act as the technical owner for an entire mission system, including stakeholder and customer engagement, requirements definition, roadmap management, team co-ordination, design, implementation, sustainment and evolution
• Capacity to learn and grow individually, while mentoring senior team members effectively, building team cohesion and capacity
• 5+ years of operational experience with autonomous maritime systems

WHAT YOU'LL DO

• Ownership of the Vehicle System, interfaces to other Systems, and overall performance against the Program and Product requirements for a new start platform
• Schedule and execution ownership for vehicle system across product generations, including timeframe of development, prototype testing, demonstrations, transitioning from prototype designs to rate manufacturing etc.
• Responsibility for vehicle developmental budget and cost performance, ensuring all subsystems are compliant and targeting cost reduction according to system cost plan
• Technical leadership at the vehicle system level, including overall responsibility for technical performance, implementation and adherence to design principals and tenets, sustainment of issue resolution activities, etc.
• Escalation path for technical decision making and/or deconfliction for the vehicle system team. Additional decision making/escalation to be done through Maritime Chief Engineer
• Represent the vehicle system in leadership meetings, customer interfacing meetings, and wherever else appropriate
• Lead meetings across the vehicle team at the necessary cadences such as daily standup, sprint planning, retro, monthlies, all-hands etc.
• Interface directly with Chief Engineer and other system leads on technical challenges and issue resolution
• Interface directly with peers across Production, Payloads, Mission Systems, Field Operations, Product Management, and Sustainment teams to align execution streams to product level schedule.
• Drive platform level trade studies across critical systems and subsystems to inform generational architectural updates and changes to the platform.
• Lead and mentor Senior and Principal level engineers for growth towards platform level leadership roles.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

• Bachelor’s degree in Robotics, Mechatronics, Computer Science, Engineering, a relevant field, or equivalent experience
• Extensive professional experience working as an Engineer with one or more domains and/or technologies of expertise.
• Extensive professional experience working as a project lead or manager driving execution across diverse engineering disciplines.
• Extensive professional experience with detailed project planning at the product or system level across diverse engineering disciplines.
• Experience with projects, programs, or products transitioning from prototype design, prototype testing, new product introduction, and transition into production.
• Ability to work in an extremely fast paced environment with the capability to maintain organization across a large team and effectively triage issues and blockers across the product organization.
