The Role

We are seeking a Software Engineer to join the Precompute team within our Core Product Engineering organization.

Our team is focused on building high-performance data and compute infrastructure that powers large-scale analytics, APIs, and downstream product experiences for our global customer base of Financial Advisors and Wealth Managers.

We partner closely with a world-class team of engineers, designers, and product managers, and put system performance, scalability, and reliability at the forefront of every initiative.

Our platform is rapidly evolving to support increasingly complex workloads, and as we modernize our architecture, we are enabling new capabilities through high-throughput data pipelines, efficient compute primitives, and flexible APIs. We pride ourselves on delivering robust, scalable, and highly performant systems.

The Precompute team builds and operates the foundational computation layer that accelerates financial analytics across the platform, with a strong emphasis on vectorisation, parallelism, and distributed processing. Our systems form the backbone of how data is processed and served at scale.

Addepar takes a market-based approach to pay. A successful candidate’s starting pay will be determined based on the role, job-related skills, experience, qualifications, work location, and market conditions. The range displayed on each job posting reflects the minimum and maximum target base salary for roles in Colorado, California, and New York.

The current range for this role is $107,000 - $168,000 (base salary) + bonus + equity + benefits.

What You’ll Do

Work with teams across the organisation to:

• Develop and implement core computation and data processing capabilities that align with our product vision within a multi-functional team
• Enhance the performance and scalability of our computation platform, processing large volumes of financial data efficiently across distributed systems
• Develop systems that leverage vectorised execution, parallelism, and elastic infrastructure to optimise throughput and latency

Who You Are

• Comfortable working independently, with a bias for action
• Thrives in ambiguous spaces where there isn’t a clear solution
• Enjoys digging into new problems and unfamiliar codebases
• Excels at written and verbal communication
• 3+ years of backend software engineering experience
• Proficiency in developing with server-side OO languages like Java
• Proficiency with Linux
• Familiarity with infrastructure components such as CI/CD, monitoring, logging, containers, Kubernetes, and infrastructure-as-code
• Familiarity with HTTP, developing REST and web APIs

The Role

We are currently seeking a Staff Software Architect to join the Office of the CTO (OCTO). In this role you will lead the design, development, and implementation of scalable and secure wealth management SaaS products by providing technical leadership, education and guidance to engineering and product teams across the organization and recommendations to leadership as part of this central practice group. Draft and champion strong architectural practices; use them to ensure technical strategic alignment with business objectives as well as to mentor and train engineers and SaaS architects. What You’ll Do

• Define technology roadmaps and architectural standards; drive adoption across Addepar
• Design and architect our SaaS applications as part of Addepar R&D
• Collaborate with product management and business stakeholders
• Spend time with clients to understand their requirements and influence the platform roadmap to meet those needs
• Proactively identify, prioritize, and propose remediation for tech debt
• Mentor and guide software engineers and architects on best practices
• Evaluate and select appropriate technologies and frameworks
• Ensure the security, scalability and efficiency of our SaaS solutions
• Conduct code reviews and ensure code quality
• Troubleshoot and resolve complex technical issues
• Partner with engineering teams to accelerate the delivery of key product capabilities

Who You Are

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related field, or equivalent experience in another capacity
• 10+ years of experience in software development
• 5+ years of experience in SaaS architecture
• Expertise in cloud platforms (AWS preferred)
• Excellent communication and leadership skills
• A track record of successfully collaborating with multiple R&D teams to accelerate the delivery of critical customer features
• Strong understanding of microservices, distributed systems, and SaaS component services
• Experience with CI/CD pipelines and DevOps practices
