The Role
As a Senior Software Engineer on our Ground Software team, you are responsible for creating the software that is used to build, test, and fly our satellites and customer payloads. You will build upon the mission software platform used to fly K2's Gravitas satellite, developing new capabilities and automation as we scale to support multiple constellations. You will collaborate closely with internal Mission Operations and Flight Software teams to define and implement our overall mission architecture, and you will work with external customers to scope and deliver software that meets their payload needs.
You will have the opportunity to work in exciting, interdisciplinary domains like: satellite command and control, constellation operations, mission automation, radio communications, astrodynamics, and more.

The Team: Marketplace Quality Engineering:
Every second, our bidder evaluates millions of ad opportunities across thousands of publishers and supply paths. Not all of that supply is created equal — some of it is duplicated, some is structurally inaccessible, and some degrades advertiser outcomes. The Marketplace Quality Engineering team exists to make sure our platform is buying the right impressions, not just more impressions.
We own the systems that assess, measure, and optimize supply quality across the programmatic ecosystem. Our work spans deduplication, supply path analysis, quality modeling, and the tooling that turns those signals into decisions at bid time. The problems are technically deep — think identity resolution across fragmented supply chains, statistical modeling to separate signal from noise, and real-time decisioning at platform scale — and they have direct, measurable impact on both advertiser outcomes and platform economics.
This is not theoretical work. When we ship a model update, spend distribution across the platform shifts. Our engineering decisions translate directly into tens of millions of dollars of measurable business impact. If you want to build systems where what you ship visibly matters, this is the team.
You will work with C# / .NET as a core strength, alongside Python and SQL where data and automation need it, and partner closely with product, data, and platform teams across time zones.
Who you are:

Nice to have (not required): GraphQL or REST API design, large-scale data processing frameworks (e.g. Apache Spark), workflow orchestration tools (e.g. Apache Airflow), schema-based data serialization, Kubernetes, Kafka, database engines (Microsoft SQL Server, PostgreSQL, Aerospike, Vertica, Redis), microservices, Python for data work or automation, and experience working across large codebases with multiple teams.

In accordance with various US state laws, the range provided is the Trade Desk's reasonable estimate of the base compensation for this role. The actual amount may differ based on non-discriminatory factors such as experience, knowledge, skills, and location. All employees may be eligible to become The Trade Desk shareholders through eligibility for stock-based compensation grants, which are awarded to employees based on company and individual performance. The Trade Desk also offers other compensation depending on the role such as variable compensation-based incentives and commissions. The Role
We're hiring a Systems Engineer to own the infrastructure that makes our AI platform reliable in production. That means the media pipelines, LLM routing layers, distributed data systems, and observability tooling that everything else depends on.
This isn't a role where you execute someone else's architecture. You'll be one of a small number of engineers who decides how these systems are built — and then builds them. The work ships fast, the feedback loop is short, and the impact is direct.
Fully remote, with meaningful overlap during afternoon hours in your timezone (CET/EET).
What You'll Own
Media ingestion platform — taking raw uploads all the way through validation, transcoding, staging, and lifecycle-aware storage management.
LLM infrastructure layer — routing requests across providers, normalizing outputs, applying semantic caching, and keeping things reliable under load.
Data platform — ingesting and indexing multi-modal data, powering retrieval and search, managing context assembly, and maintaining long-term data health.
Agent and platform operations layer — MCP servers, A2A dispatch, permissions infrastructure, and the observability layer that keeps everything visible and accountable.
Who You Are
You instrument and observe distributed systems end to end — not just reading dashboards, but designing for observability from the start
You've built and operated data engineering and ETL pipelines in production
You design clean, durable APIs across REST, gRPC, event-driven, and schema-based systems — comfortable with MCP, A2A, schema registries, and tool-calling normalization
You know media pipelines: transcoding, ffmpeg-like tooling, cloud storage, and large-object processing
Solid hands-on experience with PostgreSQL, MongoDB, Redis, and cloud storage-backed systems
Comfortable with Docker, Kubernetes, Terraform, or Pulumi
Bonus Points
Experience integrating LLM/AI systems in production. You have worked with LLM APIs, provider routing, multi-provider abstraction, schema normalization across providers, structured output, semantic caching, agentic AI systems, and prompt engineering at the infrastructure layer.

We're building the first AI-powered platform purpose-built for hardware product development, one that listens across the tools teams already use, maintains a structured picture of every program, and proactively coordinates across disciplines when things inevitably change.
This is a ground-floor opportunity for a hands-on backend engineer to build the core services and AI infrastructure powering this platform, with the support of a parent company leading innovation in engineering and manufacturing.
Who We're Looking For
We're seeking a backend engineer who ships reliable, well-designed systems and takes ownership of the services they build. The ideal candidate has production experience with Python, FastAPI, and PostgreSQL, and is comfortable building everything from REST APIs to background task pipelines to AI agent infrastructure. You should already be using AI coding tools like Cursor, Copilot, or Claude to accelerate your work, with excitement about building the backend that powers the first AI-native platform for complex hardware development.
This senior engineer will work alongside our engineering team, AI researchers, and head of product to build the services that turn unstructured inputs (call transcripts, emails, documents, datasheets) into structured engineering artifacts (requirements, project plans, dependencies), orchestrate ambient AI agents for proactive coordination, and serve real-time project intelligence to users. The role is hands-on - you will be coding daily while contributing to system design decisions and helping establish backend engineering best practices as we grow.
What You'll Do
Your day-to-day responsibilities will include:
● Designing and implementing RESTful APIs with OpenAPI specs and auto-generated client SDKs using SQLAlchemy and Postgres
● Developing ingestion pipelines using Celery and Redis that connect to tools teams already use (file storage, messaging, email) and extract structured engineering artifacts from unstructured inputs
● Building and extending agentic AI workflows using LangChain, LangGraph, and related frameworks for structured data extraction, risk detection, dependency analysis, and proactive team coordination
● Integrating LLM APIs (Anthropic Claude, OpenRouter) with streaming (SSE), error handling, and cost optimization
● Deploying and operating services on GCP (Cloud Run, Cloud SQL, Memorystore) with Terraform
● Writing well-tested, maintainable code and participating in code reviews to establish engineering best practices
Technical Requirements
Must Have:
● 5+ years building production backend systems, with 3+ years in Python
● Demonstrated proficiency using AI coding tools (Cursor, Copilot, Claude, etc.) to accelerate development
● Strong experience with FastAPI or similar async Python web frameworks
● Production experience with PostgreSQL, including schema design, migrations, and query optimization
● Hands-on experience with task queues and background processing (Celery, Redis, or similar)

This is a hybrid role in Los Angeles where you’ll help build the next generation of backend systems that power our Web2/Web3 domain registrar and marketplaces.
