What you’ll do:

The Pre-Sales Solutions Engineering organization is responsible for the technical sale of the Cloudflare solutions portfolio, ensuring maximal business value, fit-for-purpose solution design, and efficient adoption roadmaps for our customers.

As a Solutions Engineer, you are the technical customer advocate within Cloudflare. You will aid your customers and work closely with every team at Cloudflare, from Sales and Product to Engineering and Customer Support. Your goal of customer success should drive you through the entire organization as you seek out and create scalable solutions for your customer’s needs.

Technology moves at lightning speed; a broad knowledge of Internet performance and security technologies is required, and the curiosity to maintain and develop new knowledge is essential to keeping up with the high rate of product innovation at Cloudflare.

Ultimately, you are passionate about technology and have the ability to explain complex technical concepts—like how an edge network reduces "lag" or how WAF rules protect a player's wallet—in easy-to-understand terms.   Project Management: Ability to manage complex Proofs of Concept (PoCs) and prioritize between competing demands in a fast-paced environment.

• Market Knowledge: Familiarity with the competitive landscape for CDN, Zero-Trust, and SASE providers.
• Travel: Ability to travel to customer sites, industry events and internal summits.

As a Research Engineer on our team, you will partner with Research Scientists to turn research ideas into working systems, building the data, tooling, and infrastructure that enable rapid iteration, trustworthy evaluation, and a smooth path from prototype to production.

Building on our track record of AI-powered solutions (e.g., Bits AI, Bits Evolve, and our time series foundation model), Datadog AI Research tackles high-risk, high-reward problems grounded in real-world challenges in cloud observability and security.

We are focused on two research areas:

1. World Models for Observability -- Training multimodal foundation models that learn the joint dynamics of distributed systems across metrics, traces, logs, topology, and events. These models power advanced forecasting, anomaly detection, root cause analysis, counterfactual simulation ("what if?"), and provide a learned planning backbone for our autonomous agents.
2. Trained Agents for Observability-- Post-training models to operate autonomously across Datadog's domain. SRE incident response is our first target, with a clear path to code repair, security response, and infrastructure optimization. We build the simulation environments, RL training loops, and evaluation infrastructure needed to train agents that match or surpass frontier models at a fraction of the cost.

What You'll Do:

• Build and operate multimodal data pipelines, training and evaluation infrastructure, benchmarks, and internal tooling
• Implement models, run experiments at scale, and profile for reliability, performance, and cost
• Build simulation environments and replay infrastructure for agent training and evaluation
• Orchestrate distributed training and distributed RL with Ray, including scheduling, scaling, and failure recovery
• Establish rigorous automated benchmarks and regression tests for world model predictions, agent performance, and simulation fidelity
• Collaborate with Research Scientists, Product, and Engineering to integrate capabilities into Datadog's products and to harden prototypes into reliable services

Who You Are:

• You have depth in distributed computing, RL Infra, and ML systems for training and inference at scale; experience with Ray, Slurm, or similar frameworks is a plus
• You are proficient in Python, familiar with a systems language (e.g., Rust, C++, or Go), and comfortable with modern cloud and data infrastructure
• You have practical experience implementing and operating ML training and inference systems (e.g., PyTorch or JAX), including containerization, orchestration, and GPU acceleration
• You have practical experience with large-scale model training and fine-tuning, including frameworks like Megatron-LM, DeepSpeed, SkyRL, VeRL, or TorchTitan, and techniques such as SFT, RLVR, RLHF, and efficient inference (quantization, speculative decoding)

About the Role

As a Staff Product Designer, you’ll lead design for cross-cutting platform experiences–the foundational elements that touch every workflow regardless of stage. This role requires deep collaboration; every decision ripples across the product. You’ll partner closely with Product Management, Engineering, and designers cross stages to translate ambiguity into clear direction, define solutions, and ship work that meaningfully improves the experience for developers and DevSecOps teams.

This role will be project based, starting with Knowledge Graph, and solving persistent problems that span organizational boundaries and require a holistic view of the product. Along the way, you’ll share knowledge, contribute to our Pajamas Design System, and mentor other designers. Staff designers are key culture carriers who model collaboration, iterative ways of working while pushing the bar on craft.

What You’ll Do

• Lead design on platform experience – Drive the end-to-end design process for cross-cutting features and workflows that impact users across the product. Define both tactical deliverables that solve immediate user problems and strategic outputs that connect to longer-term platform vision.
• Partner cross-functionally – Coordinate across multiple groups to align on platform-level experiences. Work closely with Product Managers and Engineering Managers to shape priorities, scope MVCs, and ensure design intent is maintained through development.
• Elevate craft and quality – Demonstrate excellence in interaction design, visual design, and systems thinking. Raise the quality bar through thoughtful feedback in design reviews and by modeling high standards in your own work.
• Contribute to the design system – Actively contribute to Pajamas by identifying reusable patterns, proposing new components, and ensuring your group’s work extends and adheres to system standards.
• Mentor and support others – Coach Product Designers and Senior Product Designers through pairing, design critiques, and knowledge sharing. Help onboard new team members and contribute to a collective team culture.

• Lead threat modeling and security review exercises across Wiz’s production and CI/CD environments – identifying and mitigating risks in our products and the cloud services that support them

• 5+ years of experience in security engineering or security operations work in cloud environments, with a focus on a combination of the below: 
• AWS platforms and services (we will also consider equivalent experience in Azure and GCP) 
• Kubernetes (AWS EKS) and container infrastructure 
• IAM and managing cloud identities at-scale 
• Secure development and application of IAC solutions (Terraform, Helm) 
• Cloud-native observability and management tools 
• Development experience in Go, Python and Rust

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

• Bachelor's degree in computer science or a related field and / or candidates with equivalent job experience in lieu of a degree 
• Experience working with remote, globally distributed teams
