WHAT YOU'LL DO
As our customer base continues to grow with the excitement around BrazeAI, we’re expanding our team! Join our Forward-Deployed Data Scientist group of creative technical experts who partner with customers to ensure their success. In this role, you will:
- Collaborate with customer Analytics/BI teams and Braze colleagues on implementations, including use case definition, data integration, pipeline setup, and ML model configuration
- Extend product capabilities by improving architecture and developing reusable data pipelines, APIs, and components
- Work closely with the RL pipeline development team to refine and advance our reinforcement learning (self-learning) algorithms
- Contribute to shaping BrazeAI product strategy and roadmap through customer-facing insights and technical expertise
- Provide ongoing technical expertise to ensure successful adoption, measurable outcomes, and long-term customer success
WHO YOU ARE
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Mathematics, Engineering, or a related field required; Master’s or PhD in a relevant technical discipline preferred
- Experience: 3–5+ years of hands-on experience as a Data Scientist, Machine Learning Engineer, or similar role working with large-scale data and production environments. Experience in customer-facing or consulting roles is strongly preferred
- Strong technical expertise: Proficient in Python (Pandas) and core ML libraries (TensorFlow, Keras, scikit-learn, CatBoost, XGBoost). Skilled in SQL for querying/manipulating datasets, with experience in machine learning pipelines and model deployment
- Engineering best practices: You write well-structured, modular, documented code; follow strong development practices (Git, CI/CD, testing frameworks, type-hinting, code reviews); and can build scalable, maintainable solutions
- Nice-to-have skills: Experience with DevOps tools (Airflow, Kubernetes, Terraform, GCP), data integration/ETL, and pipeline optimization, or reinforcement learning algorithms
- Customer collaborator: Comfortable working directly with clients and cross-functional teams, aligning stakeholders, and translating technical concepts into clear business value
- Entrepreneurial problem-solver: You identify opportunities and risks early, troubleshoot obstacles, and drive creative solutions
- Continuous learner: You stay current with industry trends, explore new tools/technologies, and thrive in environments that push you to grow
- Clear communicator: Able to explain complex technical ideas persuasively to both technical and non-technical audiences
For candidates based in the United States, the pay range for this position at the start of employment is expected to be between $98,000-$164,000/year, with an expected On Target Earnings (OTE) between $109,000-$183,000/year (including bonus or commission). Your exact offer may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including market location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. In addition to cash compensation, this role qualifies for a comprehensive Total Rewards package that includes equity grants of restricted stock (RSUs) so that you will own a piece of our company.

ABOUT THIS OPPORTUNITY
onX is seeking a Staff Software Engineer who will contribute to meaningful, real-world outcomes that have a lasting impact for customers and the business. In this role, you’ll focus on the design, development, and scaling of our core AI/ML platforms and product-facing services as part of the AI Foundations Team, supporting the integration of cutting-edge artificial intelligence solutions across onX's product lines. You’ll take ownership of your work, collaborate closely with partners across the organization, and help move initiatives forward in an environment where priorities evolve, learning is celebrated, and you’re encouraged to keep stretching your skills. This role will report to the Director of Engineering.
WHAT YOU'LL DO
Essential Job Duties & Functions
- Work on the design, development, and deployment of large-scale AI systems and services, including models, pipelines, product experiences and infrastructure.
- Help Drive the technical strategy and roadmap for AI feature development, focusing on scalability, repeatability, reliability, and performance.
- Mentor and guide other engineers in best practices and productionizing AI technologies.
- Collaborate with Product and Data Science teams to translate business problems into technical requirements and deliver high-impact AI solutions (combining LLMs, Vector Databases, ML and other technology in novel ways to serve onX’ unique audience).
- Look for opportunities to embed AI as a repeatable mechanism in daily workflows by integrating experimentation into real work, and continuously refining its use with sound judgment and validation.
- Be a leader in AI safety, ensuring AI-enabled products are aligned with our values and mission.

WHAT YOU’LL BRING
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Data Science, or a related technical field, or equivalent experience.
- 10+ years of professional software engineering experience, with at least 3 years focused on building and scaling production AI/ML systems, is required.
- Expertise in building scalable backend systems.
- Deep knowledge of MLOps practices, cloud infrastructure (AWS/GCP/Azure), and CI/CD pipelines for machine learning models and the common inference APIs/SDKs and frameworks.
- Experience with modern AI technologies, including Large Language Models (LLMs) and their various architectures, methods such as RAG, vector databases, and the common AI stack including TensorFlow/Keras, PyTorch, Transformers, etc.
- A strong curiosity for exploring new technologies, including AI
- A shared passion for and ability to demonstrate onX’s Company Values.
- Permanent US work authorization is a condition of employment with onX.
ADDED BONUSES
Though not required, we would be thrilled to consider candidates with any of the following:
- A history of engaging in AI development, from the early ML/NN (YOLO, Darknet) to the LLM era.
- Experience in monitoring and debugging production AI systems (inference, evals, judging, benchmarks) including cost and performance optimizations.
- Interest or experience in edge/on-device inference (MLX, JAX, transformers on TPU/NPU, etc.)
- Interest, experience or experimentation in training/fine-tuning transformer/diffusion models, dataset curation and captioning, etc.

HOW YOU’LL BE COMPENSATED
onX is committed to compensating all employees fairly and equitably for their contributions. Applicants can expect to make between $169,000 to $211,000 upon hire. The pay range will vary based on experience, skills, certifications, and education among other factors as required in the job description. In addition, full-time onX employees are eligible for a grant of common share options with a vesting schedule and a potential annual bonus of 10% based on company performance.

Scope
Ambiq is seeking an experienced Edge AI Applied ML Engineer with deep experience in audio and computer vision. In this role, you will design, train, optimize, and deploy highly efficient on-device AI models—from ultra-small (tens of KB) to larger (hundreds of MB) footprints—targeting resource-constrained, real-time, battery-powered devices.
While the cloud has been the default home for AI, the next frontier is distributing intelligence everywhere—directly onto real-world devices. Edge AI enables real-time responsiveness, stronger privacy, lower bandwidth cost, and reliable operation even without connectivity. This role will help accelerate the shift to on-device intelligence across a rapidly growing ecosystem of health and fitness wearables, smart glasses, industrial IoT, and always-on sensors.
You’ll also help evolve our award-winning open-source AI Development Kits (ADKs): modular tooling that enables developers to mix-and-match datasets, model architectures, tasks, training recipes, and deployment targets. You will bridge cutting-edge research and practical productization by building production-grade demos, reference applications, and customer-facing tooling that accelerates real-world adoption.
Responsibilities
- Develop and optimize on-device ML models for constrained, real-time, battery-powered products, balancing accuracy with latency, memory, and energy.
- Build and maintain Ambiq’s open-source ADKs for modular datasets, models, tasks, and training recipes.
- Translate cutting-edge research into production-grade demos and reference implementations.
- Apply model efficiency techniques: quantization, compression, pruning, and structured sparsification.
- Serve as a domain expert in audio and vision (data strategy, evaluation, and failure analysis).
- Port and optimize customer models to Ambiq edge runtimes, ensuring correctness, performance, and usability.
- Deliver and promote customer-ready assets: docs, tutorials, examples, benchmarks, plus white papers and conference representation.
Qualifications
- BS in Computer Science or related field + 5+ years of relevant experience (or equivalent practical experience). MS or PhD in related disciplines (ML, EE, signal processing, computer vision, robotics) is highly desirable.Strong proficiency in Python; working proficiency in C/C++ and/or Rust for performance and runtime integration.
- Domain expertise in audio (KWS, speech enhancement, SLM, TTS) and/or vision (classify/detect/segment/pose/OBB/track), with DSP fundamentals (e.g., FFT).
- Comfortable in Linux development with Docker/dev containers (able to work across Mac/Windows as needed).
- Experience with one or more training frameworks: PyTorch, TensorFlow, JAX, Keras.
- Strong ML engineering fundamentals: data pipelines, augmentation, metrics, experiment reproducibility, and failure analysis.
- Familiarity with edge deployment stacks such as ONNX, LiteRT, ExecuTorch.
- Hands-on with edge optimization: quantization (PTQ/QAT), compression, and (structured) sparsification, plus profiling for latency/memory/energy tradeoffs.
- Efficient use of AI-assisted development tools while maintaining rigor (testing, review, reproducibility).
