Ko wai mātou – About us

Kia ora. We're Foodies. You know New World, PAK'nSAVE and Four Square right? That's us!

With 300+ stores and over 24,000 Foodies across Te Ika-a-Māui, our North Island Co-op has the privilege of helping New Zealanders get more out of life. Locally owned, we reflect the communities we serve, and we celebrate our people, our taonga, every day for being uniquely them.

Every day, thousands of customers shop in-store or online. To make it happen, our Supply Chain network, one of New Zealand's largest, keeps products moving from suppliers to stores across the North Island. Behind that movement is data. Lots of it. And that's where this opportunity comes in.

Te Tūranga – About the role

Due to internal movement, we are recruiting for a Senior Business Intelligence Developer. In this role, you'll build the data foundations that power Supply Chain reporting, analytics, and decision-making. Sitting within the Supply Chain Strategy & Development team, you'll work at the intersection of Engineering and Analytics, creating trusted data assets and automation that help our analysts spend more time analysing data and less time preparing it.

This is primarily a backend BI role focused on data modelling, SQL development, automation, and data quality rather than dashboard development.

You'll also:

  • Design and develop scalable data models, semantic layers, and reusable analytical assets
  • Build, automate, monitor, and support robust BI and analytics solutions
  • Establish consistent business logic, metric definitions, and trusted analytical datasets
  • Partner with Supply Chain analysts, IT teams, and business stakeholders to deliver trusted, high-quality data
  • Drive efficiency through automation, standardisation, and optimisation of analytical data assets
  • Act as the technical bridge between Supply Chain and Data Engineering teams

Ngā painga – What we offer

We're committed to providing awesome experiences for our people, including offering a range of benefits:

  • Free carparking - we've got over 1,000 carparks including 36 free EV plugs
  • Southern Cross health insurance
  • Onsite café with subsidised meals, mini mart, and 5% discount at our retail stores
  • Flexible working options, a day off on your birthday, and long service leave
  • In-house learning and development programmes, flu vaccinations, and social network groups (we call them Tribes)

He kōrero mōu – About you

You're a highly capable BI professional who enjoys solving complex data challenges and creating trusted, reusable solutions that others can build on.

You'll bring:

  • 5+ years' experience in BI Development, Analytics Engineering, BI Engineering, or a similar advanced data role
  • Expert-level SQL development skills working with large and complex datasets
  • Strong experience designing data models and reusable analytical assets
  • A solid understanding of business logic, metric definitions, and data governance principles
  • Proven experience building, automating, monitoring, and supporting data solutions
  • Ideally, exposure to Supply Chain, SAP, Finance, Power BI, Microsoft Fabric, GCP, or similar analytics platforms

We're interested in your diverse experiences, your strengths, and how adaptable you are to learn and grow. If you don't meet every requirement, but feel this role could be for you, we'd still love to hear from you.

Ready to build the data foundations behind one of New Zealand's largest and most complex supply chains? Apply now and help shape the future of data-driven decision-making at Foodies.

We're proud to have a focus on Diversity & Inclusion here at Foodies and welcome courageous behaviour, encourage togetherness, and inspire our people to be their best selves in our Foodies whānau.

We encourage you to apply with all your awesomeness and welcome your diverse background, including any disability, additional health and mental health needs, and/or neurodiversity.

If you require further information or reasonable accommodations during our recruitment process, please reach out to [email protected] so we can support you to participate equitably in our recruitment and selection process. Accommodations could include interview location, sign language interpreter, or assistive technology.
