The team manages a diverse portfolio of leading public sector organisations, retailers, travel companies, and billers, supporting them across Trustly’s full product suite – from A2A payments to data and onboarding solutions – to deliver seamless, high-performance experiences for their customers.
About the role
We are seeking a Senior Account Manager to join our Pay Account Management team. The role is focused primarily on the UK market, with responsibility for some pan-European accounts. This is a high-impact role responsible for managing and growing a portfolio of key strategic accounts.
You will act as a trusted partner to our clients, delivering best-in-class relationship management while identifying opportunities to expand revenue, increase product adoption, and deepen long-term partnerships.
This role requires a strong commercial mindset, excellent stakeholder management skills, and a deep understanding of payments, fintech, and the sectors served by Pay – including public sector, retail, travel and billers.
What you'll do
Account Management & Relationship Leadership
Own and develop senior-level relationships across a portfolio of key UK and pan-European Pay clients
Act as the primary point of contact, ensuring a consistently high standard of service and client satisfaction
Build trusted advisor relationships with key stakeholders
Revenue Growth & Commercial Ownership
Identify and execute opportunities to grow revenue within existing accounts (upselling, cross-selling, new use cases)
Develop and deliver account plans aligned with client objectives and Trustly’s growth strategy
Negotiate commercial agreements and renewals to maximise long-term value
Client Success & Strategic Support
Drive adoption of Trustly products and features to increase client performance and ROI
Monitor account performance, providing insights and recommendations based on data and market trends
Collaborate with internal teams (Product, Sales, Operations, Compliance) to deliver solutions that meet client needs
Market Expertise & Thought Leadership
Maintain a strong understanding of the UK and EU payments landscape across public sector, retail, travel and billers, including regulatory developments
Provide strategic input to clients on industry trends and innovation opportunities
Represent Trustly at industry events
Who you are
We’re more interested in how you think and work than the specific industries you’ve worked in. Our product is technical and our markets are nuanced, but both can be learned by the right person. What we’re really looking for is commercial instinct, a talent for building relationships, and the drive to get on top of something complex quickly – whatever sector you’re coming from.
Experience & Skills
A strong track record in account management, client success, or another commercial role – the quality of your track record matters more than years served or the industry you built it in
Proven ability to manage and grow enterprise or strategic accounts
Strong commercial acumen, with real experience in revenue growth and contract negotiations
Excellent stakeholder management skills, with the ability to build trust and influence at senior levels
Domain Knowledge
An understanding of payments, open banking, or A2A ecosystems is an advantage –as you’ll be given the support to learn our product
Experience in public sector, retail, travel, or billing is a bonus rather than a prerequisite
Familiarity with UK market dynamics and the regulatory environment is a plus
Personal Attributes
Genuinely curious and a fast learner – you’ll be expected to become fluent in a technical product, and you’re energised rather than daunted by that
Hard-working, ambitious, dedicated and willing to go the extra mile to successfully close a negotiation and maximise the value of the deal
Very good communicator and have the ability to explain complex topics in a clear and understandable way
Humble with a strong business acumen
Take great pride in your work and strive for excellence with drive
Ownership mentality and accountability
Consider yourself great with numbers, analytical and able to use logic and problem-solving skills to find the relevant solutions
