The Project Manager will support a variety of sustaining and capital projects within an underground mining operation. This position is ideal for a junior to intermediate Project Manager looking to expand their experience while working alongside an established team of experienced professionals. The successful candidate will be responsible for delivering projects from planning through execution while collaborating with operations, engineering, maintenance, and contractors to ensure projects are completed safely, on schedule, and within budget.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Manage multiple sustaining and capital projects from initiation through completion.
- Develop detailed project scopes, schedules, budgets, and execution plans.
- Coordinate with operations, maintenance, engineering, contractors, and other stakeholders to ensure successful project delivery.
- Monitor project progress, costs, schedules, and quality while identifying and mitigating project risks.
- Support procurement activities, contractor coordination, and project execution.
- Prepare project reports, forecasts, and status updates for key stakeholders.
- Ensure projects comply with health, safety, environmental, and regulatory requirements.
- Facilitate project meetings and maintain effective communication with project teams.
- Capture lessons learned and recommend continuous improvements to project execution processes.
Requirements
- 3–7 years of experience in project management, project engineering, or a related role within mining, heavy industrial, construction, or manufacturing environments.
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related engineering discipline. Equivalent combinations of education and experience will be considered.
- Previous mining experience is preferred, with underground mining experience considered a strong asset.
- Demonstrated understanding of project management principles, including scope, schedule, cost, and risk management.
- Experience coordinating contractors, consultants, and multidisciplinary project teams.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, including Excel, Word, and MS Project.
- Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and adapt to changing project requirements.
- P.Eng. designation or eligibility for registration with APEGS is considered an asset.
