Where You Fit In 

We’re looking for a creative, organized, and proactive intern to support the development, engagement, and celebration of our nationwide network of near-peer college mentors and HealthCorps alumni. 

As a TMHH Mentor & Alumni Intern, you will work under the Mentor and Alumni Program Manager & Director to help strengthen the mentor experience, capture and share impact stories, and support the growth of our alumni community. This internship offers meaningful, professional experience in youth development, workforce development, public health, and nonprofit programming—all while operating fully remotely. 

This role provides hands-on experience in alumni/mentor engagement, learning management system (LMS) support, online networking platform management, and program development.

What You’ll Do 

As a TMHH Mentor & Alumni Intern with HealthCorps, you will support the digital, operational, and community-building efforts that enhance the overall mentor and alumni experience. 

Mentor & Alumni Experience + Platform Support 

  • Support the development and improvement of digital resources, trainings, guides, and onboarding materials that strengthen the mentor experience and professional development opportunities. 
  • Maintain and organize content within the Learning Management System (LMS), including uploading materials, updating modules, and tracking completion to ensure a smooth user experience. 
  • Assist with the ongoing development and growth of the HealthCorps Alumni Connect LinkedIn Group, including member engagement, resource sharing, discussion facilitation, networking opportunities, and promotion of alumni events and initiatives. 
  • Help collect and compile feedback from mentors and alumni to inform program and platform improvements. 
  • Troubleshoot basic user questions and identify opportunities to enhance system usability, engagement, and accessibility. 
  • Support mentor and alumni recognition efforts, including digital spotlights, newsletters, and awards. 
  • Assist with planning and coordinating virtual alumni events, focus groups, networking sessions, and career development opportunities. 
  • Maintain accurate alumni records and contribute to strategies that strengthen communication, outreach, and long-term engagement. 

Collaboration & Teamwork 

  • Work closely with the Mentor and Alumni Program Manager to support ongoing national initiatives. 
  • Collaborate with college mentors and Regional Program Managers and Coordinators nationwide to gather stories, understand local needs, and support program improvement. 
  • Participate in national intern huddles and cross-team meetings to align on messaging, strategy, and workflow. 

Requirements

Minimum Qualifications 

  • An undergraduate or graduate college student majoring in, or interested in public health, public policy, biology, nutrition, marketing, psychology, education, social work or other related fields.  
  • In good academic standing with your university.  
  • A commitment of 6 – 8 hours each week to the internship.   
  • A self-expectation and strong desire to grow personally and professionally as a leader in the non-profit, youth development, digital learning environments.  
  • A self-starter with the ability to work independently in a remote environment.  
  • Experience with Microsoft Office Suite 
  • Experience with Canva, learning management systems (LMS), or online networking platforms is a plus.  
  • Preferred experience: prior Teens Make Health Happen mentor  

Physical Requirements 

  • Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer 
  • Must be able to communicate and collaborate effectively in a fully remote environment

What You’ll Gain 

College Credit: 
HealthCorps will work with you and your university to provide college credit* for the internship. 
*Depending on the specific requirements and guidelines of your university, this may be in the form of college or course credit or practicum hours. 

Stipend:  

You will receive a stipend intended to help alleviate potential costs that you may incur from participating in the program. You may use these funds for whatever you feel you need it for (technology needs, professional development materials, transportation for any local site visits, etc.) and it will be distributed in monthly installments. 

Professional Development: 
You will receive ongoing training, mentorship, and access to national intern development sessions. You’ll gain direct experience in public health, communications, and education systems. 

Networking & Impact: 
You’ll connect with HealthCorps media, wellness, and education professionals and contribute to mission-driven storytelling that helps inspire the next generation of healthy leaders.
