About this Information Technology Specialist role at Fidus Systems

Position Overview
As a key member of our IT team, the IT Specialist manages the systems and services that power Fidus, blending frontline support with Azure, security, and AI enablement work. The role shares ownership of helpdesk operations with the broader IT team, supports our organizational AI enablement and deployment efforts, and brings a security-conscious approach to everything from endpoint management to identity and cloud administration.
What You’ll Be Doing:
- Onsite in our Kanata office 4 days per week;
- Share ownership of IT help desk operations alongside the IT team, ensuring prompt and professional resolution of support tickets, setting priorities, and closing tickets with excellent customer service;
- Lead organizational AI enablement and deployment, including rollout, adoption support, agentic enablement, and safe/compliant use of AI tools across the business;
- Administer and maintain our Azure and Microsoft 365 environment, including Entra ID, Intune, Defender, Purview, Sentinel, Exchange Online, and related Azure services;
- Share ownership of IT-related onboarding and offboarding processes and tasks;
- Provide hands-on IT support to end users, including software and hardware troubleshooting;
- Hardware provisioning, including Autopilot deployments and asset tracking;
- Monitor and maintain Windows OS, Office 365, and Linux (Ubuntu, Red Hat), with some Mac support;
- Champion identity system integrations, driving SSO and SCIM everywhere, and automated project-level ACL for JIT access;
- Apply security best practices across identity, endpoints, and cloud, and support compliance and cybersecurity requirements;
- Create and maintain documentation for IT processes, configurations, and security training logs;
- Embraces AI as part of a modern toolkit to improve efficiency and output quality.
Requirements
Who You Are
- Minimum of 5-7 years of experience in a similar IT position, where some years have experience at similarly sized organizations (approximately 50-250 employees);
- Post-secondary education in a computer-related field or the equivalent related work experience;
- Strong hands-on experience administering Azure and Microsoft 365 environments;
- Experience leading or supporting organizational AI enablement and deployment (rollout, adoption, agentic enablement and responsible-use practices);
- Solid working knowledge of security concepts, and familiarity with compliance and cybersecurity frameworks;
- Working knowledge of Linux systems (Ubuntu, Red Hat) and command-line administration;
- Experience working with IT ticketing systems;
- Experience with IT hardware provisioning;
- Excellent customer service and communication skills;
- Fluency in English is required (spoken and written) for audits and client communication;
- Strong diagnostic and problem-solving skills;
- Can manage and prioritize multiple tasks, very organized with a good attention to detail;
- Ability to document processes, configurations, and incident responses in a detailed and organized manner;
- Self-motivated with the ability to work independently and as a member of a team;
- Able to shift schedule to work the odd evening or weekend to repair critical systems/components or perform upgrades/fixes outside of business hours;
- Ability to obtain security clearance to work within Canadian and US government contract requirements (Existing security clearance an asset).

Annual base salary ranges from $90,000 to $110,000. The final offer within this range takes into account the variations in knowledge, skills, experience, and market conditions, and with consideration to internal equity.
