Why you will love this opportunity as Financial Data Migration Developer at Civica

As a Financial Data Migration Developer, you will work closely with Finance, IT, Business Analysts, and Application teams to support financial data migration activities across transformation programmes.

You will be responsible for analysing, cleansing, transforming, validating, and reconciling complex financial datasets, ensuring data integrity throughout the migration lifecycle. The role requires both technical expertise and the ability to understand financial processes and communicate effectively with business stakeholders.

What you’ll be doing:

  • Develop and maintain data migration solutions that support iterative data cleansing, transformation, reconciliation, and migration activities.
  • Analyse and profile source financial data across sales orders, customer records, GL balances, AP/AR, deferred revenue, trial balance, and other key financial datasets.
  • Write, optimise, and troubleshoot complex T-SQL queries to extract, transform, validate, and reconcile large volumes of data.
  • Design and implement data mapping between legacy and target financial systems, including chart of accounts, cost centres, and financial dimensions.
  • Document mapping rules, transformation logic, assumptions, and identified data quality issues.
  • Perform detailed reconciliation processes to ensure completeness and accuracy of migrated financial data.
  • Investigate and resolve data discrepancies, anomalies, and quality issues in partnership with Finance stakeholders.
  • Translate complex technical concepts into clear and understandable business language.
  • Support testing activities, including unit testing, system integration testing, and user acceptance testing.
  • Participate in mock migrations, dress rehearsals, cutover activities, and post-migration validation.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams across multiple locations and time zones to ensure successful project delivery.

Requirements

What you will bring:

Technical Skills

  • 5+ years' experience writing and optimising complex T-SQL queries in a data migration or data transformation environment.
  • Strong experience with:
    • Joins
    • CTEs
    • Window functions
    • Aggregations
    • Query performance tuning
  • Experience extracting, cleansing, transforming, and validating large datasets.
  • Familiarity with ETL tools such as SSIS, Informatica, Talend, or Azure Data Factory is desirable.
  • Advanced Excel skills, including Pivot Tables, XLOOKUP, and financial data reconciliation techniques.

Finance & Domain Knowledge

  • Experience supporting finance-related data migration, ERP implementation, or business transformation programmes.
  • Strong understanding of General Ledger, Chart of Accounts, Trial Balance, Accounts Payable/Receivable, Sales Order data, and financial reporting structures.
  • Knowledge of journal entries, reconciliation processes, and financial reporting cycles.
  • Experience working with ERP platforms such as SAP, Oracle Financials, Workday Financials, or similar systems is highly desirable.

Qualifications & Experience

  • 5+ years' experience as a SQL Developer, Data Analyst, Data Migration Specialist, or similar role.
  • Previous exposure to finance, accounting, or ERP data environments.
  • Professional certifications in SQL, data analytics, accounting, or finance are advantageous but not essential.
