Job Overview
The Environmental Health & Safety (EHS) Specialist – Learning, Development & Training is responsible for designing, developing, implementing, and evaluating safety training programs that promote a culture of safety, regulatory compliance, and employee development across the organization. This position serves as the subject matter expert for EHS learning initiatives, ensuring employees receive effective training that enhances knowledge, improves performance, and reduces workplace risks.
Requirements
Required Qualifications
Experience
Minimum 3 years of EHS experience in construction, utility, industrial, manufacturing, transportation, or related industries.
Minimum 5 years of experience designing, developing, and delivering safety training programs.
Experience conducting classroom, virtual, and field-based training.
Experience managing training records, compliance documentation, and LMS platforms.
Demonstrated experience applying adult learning principles and instructional design methodologies.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
Strong knowledge of OSHA regulations and compliance requirements.
Strong knowledge of DOT compliance requirements.
Knowledge of training evaluation and effectiveness measurement.
Ability to engage diverse audiences, including field personnel and leadership teams.
Experience coaching and mentoring supervisors and frontline employees.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, including PowerPoint, Excel, and Teams.
Physical Requirements
Ability to travel up to 30–40% to field locations, offices, and operational facilities.
Ability to stand and present for extended periods during training sessions.
Legal Requirements
Eligible to work in the United States.
Preferred Qualifications
Associate Safety Professional (ASP)
Certified Instructional Trainer (CIT)
Certified Professional in Training Management (CPTM)
OSHA 500/510 Trainer Certification
Adult Learning or Instructional Design Certification
Bilingual (English/Spanish) preferred.
