We are seeking an experiencedย Power Electronics Design Engineerย to lead the design and development of advanced AC-DC and DC-DC power conversion solutions for a wide range of low, medium, and high-voltage applications. This role is ideal for professionals with strong expertise in switched-mode power supply (SMPS) design, power electronics, and converter topologies who are passionate about developing reliable, high-performance electronic products.
As a Power Electronics Design Engineer, you will be responsible for translating customer requirements into robust power supply designs, selecting appropriate converter topologies and components, performing engineering analysis, and supporting the complete product development lifecycle. You will collaborate closely with cross-functional engineering teams to deliver efficient, reliable, and manufacturable power electronics solutions that meet performance, safety, and quality standards.
Requirements
Key Responsibilities
- Design and develop AC-DC and DC-DC SMPS solutions using Flyback, Forward, Half-Bridge, Full-Bridge, Push-Pull, and other power converter topologies.
- Analyze customer requirements and conduct feasibility studies for power electronics and electronic circuit designs.
- Select suitable converter topologies, MOSFETs, capacitors, PWM controllers, driver circuits, and other critical components based on application requirements.
- Develop circuit schematics and design documentation using ORCAD Capture or similar electronic design tools.
- Perform engineering analyses including derating calculations, thermal analysis, reliability assessments, DFMEA, FMECA, and failure analysis.
- Optimize converter efficiency, thermal performance, EMI/EMC compliance, and overall product reliability.
- Collaborate with hardware, testing, manufacturing, and quality teams throughout product development and validation.
- Troubleshoot design challenges, evaluate prototype performance, and implement design improvements.
- Maintain comprehensive technical documentation, design reports, and engineering records.
- Ensure compliance with industry standards, product specifications, and engineering best practices throughout the design lifecycle.
What Makes You a Great Fit
- 10+ years of experience in Power Electronics Design, SMPS Development, or Power Supply Engineering.
- Strong expertise in AC-DC and DC-DC converter design and switched-mode power supply architectures.
- Hands-on experience with Flyback, Forward, Half-Bridge, Full-Bridge, and Push-Pull converter topologies.
- Solid understanding of power semiconductor selection, magnetic component design, PWM controllers, driver circuits, and passive components.
- Experience performing DFMEA, FMECA, reliability analysis, derating studies, and thermal analysis.
- Proficiency with electronic design tools such as ORCAD Capture or equivalent schematic design software.
- Strong knowledge of analog and digital power electronics, circuit analysis, and hardware validation techniques.
- Excellent analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills with attention to design quality and reliability.
- Ability to collaborate effectively with multidisciplinary engineering teams and manage multiple design activities simultaneously.
