About this Accounting Intern (Remote MEX) role at Directive
Directive is looking for an Accounting Intern to join our finance team and support the day-to-day accounting operations of a fast-growing B2B performance marketing agency. This role sits at the intersection of accuracy and insight — you'll help keep the books clean while contributing to the financial reporting that drives how we run the business.
You'll be responsible for assisting in the monthly close process, reconciliations, and maintaining the integrity of our general ledger. You'll work closely with the Assistant Controller & Accountant and have a chance for learning & growth.
Roles & Responsibilities:
The accounting intern provides assistance with the following:
Accounts payable duties & cash disbursement duties
Accounts receivable duties & cash receipts
Billing, new client generation, and lost client processes with strong attention to accuracy
Weekly posted transactions
Year-end 1099 forms & periodic business compliance filings
Semi-monthly payroll processing and quarterly audit of deductions and benefits
Monitor vendor payments and collection of W-9s needed
Adherence to process checklists, policies, and procedures
Performs Month End Close Duties including reconciling bank and credit card statements and appropriate journal entries in accordance with monthly close process checklists
Maintain balance sheet account schedules (Accruals, Prepaids, Fixed Assets, Debt Amortization)
Maintain affiliate payment schedules and account reconciliations
Assist with Daily, Weekly, Monthly, and Ad Hoc Reporting
What You Offer:
On track for BS degree or equivalent in Accounting
Strong communication - English is a must
Ability to adhere to timelines is a must
Ability to organize, prioritize and manage multiple projects simultaneously and operate with a sense of urgency for high priority items

Work Environment Requirements
As a remote-first company, you’ll have the ability to work from your home office. For some positions, as posted, we will accommodate global opportunities where we have established businesses, including Canada, Mexico, and the UK. For global locations, you must have established and current work authorization and permanently reside in that country.
This role has the opportunity to operate 100% virtually from your home office. We primarily collaborate with our colleagues through virtual meetings (Zoom), and Slack. In this role, you will be required to operate a laptop computer (PC or Mac available), computer software platforms, and other office productivity tools as necessary. Due to the nature of this role, you must be able to remain stationary for extended periods, must be able to observe and interpret written and/or verbal communication, must have reliable internet access, and a professional background.
